Bits and pieces. That’s all I remember.
Flashes and dreams plague my mind, yet I have no idea whether any of it is real. But the more I dream, the more I start to wonder if it’s all part of a puzzle…a puzzle which leads me straight to him.
The man in the suit.
I have no idea what he wants with me. All I know is that with each puzzle piece I manage to put in place, I feel more drawn to him. As if there’s a connection between us I can’t explain.
But there’s a prickle of warning in the back of my mind telling me this is all a dangerous
game filled with lies and deceit—a game which forces me to trust him…
…the man in the suit.

Fueled by coffee and rainy days, shelves of books consuming her home in the Pacific Northwest, and a vivid imagination, Fiona writes about love because she believes the world needs more of it. She could spend eternity lost in a story, taken into someone’s thoughts while she is left lingering there long after the pages have turned. Fiona works to meld themes in the current world and spin them into stories of longing, determination, and hope. Her characters are relatable and relevant, as they battle their own fictional version of existence.

He was lenient, divulging details in an actual conversation, and technically he never threatened my life before our conversation. Unless he was killing me by looking so gorgeous in his pajamas. Liam’s grin returned, his head shaking slightly while he laughed.
“You’re cute, Aideen.” His chuckle was soft. “I like you a lot.”
“Great.” My eyes rolled, mocking him. “Let’s be best friends.”
“That sounds like a wonderful plan, actually. Best friends tell each other secrets, right? They do that sort of stuff?”
I narrowed my eyes, studying Liam suspiciously as he grinned. “Depends on what secrets, I suppose. If you’re about to tell me who you killed last night, I don’t want the burden of that secret. If it’s that you finished you brother’s wine, then you better have kept a bottle for me.”
“That’s what I’m talking about,” he sighed. “You’re too funny for Julian. He’s so tightly wound and overprotective. Want to know a secret?” Liam stood from the kitchen table, my body mindlessly mirroring his posture. His hands fell atop my shoulders while he studied my face, his gaze stopping at my eyes.
“You’re a smart girl, Aideen. Do the research. It will surely tell you more than Julian,” Liam whispered in my ear. He spun away, my shoulders shivering with the loss of touch, and walked toward the kitchen sink while still mumbling something. I couldn’t hear Liam; my mind was distracted by the familiar heightened sense of goose bumps that trailed along my neck.
“What’s going on?” Julian interrupted, his right hand rubbing sleep from his faded eyes. What do I do?

Book Blitz: Royal Attraction by Tiffany Truitt

Royal Attraction
Tiffany Truitt
Published by: Entangled Embrace
Publication date: September 18th 2017
Genres: Contemporary, New Adult, Romance

Alexandra Ryans’s life has been anything but normal. Some might even call it a fairy tale. As the daughter of the former U.S. ambassador to England, she grew up within the palace walls, best friends with the three young princes. Adored by the press and the British people. What more could a girl want?

If only the press knew the real story behind her relationships with the Dudley boys. Then, they’d really sell some papers.

Oliver Dudley, youngest son and third in line for the throne, loves everything about his life. The fame. The parties. The women. The utter lack of expectations and responsibilities that come with being last in the line of succession. But while the world thinks he has everything he wants, there’s one thing he was never able to call his own—the beautiful and spunky American Aly Ryans. But how can he convince her when she hates everything about his life? And what is he willing to give up to get her?

EXCERPT:

“I’ll only be here a little while longer, Ollie,” I manage in between breaths. “Then everything can go back to the way it was. Like I never returned.”

The lines in his forehead deepen. “You think that’s what I want? To go back? Tell me your life has been better since you left,” he challenges, raising an eyebrow.

I place my hand against his chest and attempt to push him out of my way, but he doesn’t budge. Not even an inch. Instead, he places a hand against my cheek. I inhale sharply, caught off guard by the sudden gentleness of the action. “You tell me right now that since leaving here your life has been better, that you’re happy, and I’ll walk out of this greenhouse. I’ll pretend that seeing you here doesn’t drive me wild. I’ll ignore all the things my body wants to do to yours. I’ll forget the fact that you leaving without a goodbye wrecked me.”

I open my mouth to argue, but he cuts me off. “You wrecked me, Ryans,” he reiterates, his voice desperate.

I prepare to tell him that I’m happier. That life has been easier without being caught between him and Aiden. That I enjoy not having to worry the press is lurking around every corner. That I prefer being a normal girl. That the day we shared together was just that—a day. It didn’t mean anything. It didn’t define me.

But the words refuse to come out of my mouth. Instead, a small gasp breaks free, and I know that if I don’t bolt soon, my resolve will shatter. Ollie’s hand slowly trails down my cheek and across the length of my neck, stopping on the delicate skin above my collarbone. My breathing picks up.

Tell him to stop, Alexandra.

He tugs at the collar of my jersey, bringing my face dangerously close to his. I bite down hard on my bottom lip. Ollie’s eyes travel down to my lips. My body gravitates toward his till it’s nearly pressing against the length of him.

When did it become this? This need? Because need is coursing through me like wildfire.

“You said it, Ryans. You won,” he reminds me, his voice all throaty and hoarse and incredibly sexy. “You want me to spend the rest of your time here ignoring all that’s left unanswered between us? Say it. If you desire to go back to that emptiness, that life that you seem so anxious to return to, I won’t stop you. Just say it’s what you want. ’Cause I can’t stand the indecision anymore, the what-ifs. I’ve lived three years of that. Wondering what could have happened if things had been different. ”

Now Live: The Real, by Kate Stewart

We’re celebrating the release of THE REAL by Kate Stewart!

Contemporary Romance
Stand Alone

Blurb:

They say it happens when you least expect it.

It did for me.

It started the moment I saw the simple message pop up on my computer screen:

Cameron’s Mac: Hi.

And when I met the eyes of the gorgeous man messaging me from across the coffee shop, I never thought my reply would lead to the most intense, sexual, and passionate relationship of my life.

We both agreed to check our bags at the door and put our future hopes and aspirations on the table.

It worked.

I fell in love with his no holds barred attitude, sexy smirk, and undeniably good heart . . . and for a while we forgot about our baggage. We happily tripped over it to get to the other, neither of us willing to show the contents of our pasts in the off chance it could ruin us.

We built our love on a foundation of gray.

It was life in black and white that threatened to tear us apart.

EXCERPT:

Cameron’s Mac: Hi.

I looked above my laptop and took a deep breath before I accepted his invitation.

Abbie’s Mac: Hi.

Abbie, he’s going to wear your skin! I tried to ignore my inner voice.

Cameron’s Mac: I saw you with the homeless guy.

Abbie’s Mac: Ok?

He took a sip out of his Real Men Love Pomeranians mug and shrugged before he typed.

Cameron’s Mac: So, that was nice of you. Most people in the city just walk on by.

Abbie’s Mac: Oh. Most people do walk past Bennie. But he’s different and I’m not most people.

He lifted a brow and bit his lip.

Cameron’s Mac: I see that.

Cameron’s Mac: Want to have your next cup with me?

Say yes, say yes! It’s only coffee!

Abbie’s Mac: No, thank you.

You idiot.

His brows drew tight with his frown.

Cameron’s Mac: Sure? How about some breakfast?

My pulse raced with the memory of my last reaction to that type of attention and the consequences, and I answered without another thought.

Abbie’s Mac: No, thanks.

His chuckle was deep and covered me, even across the space between us. He bit his full bottom lip as he typed, his smirk still intact.

Fuck. Me. Damn it, Abbie!

Cameron’s Mac: Well, I guess today is not my day.

Abbie’s Mac: That’s all you’ve got?

I had no clue why I sent that message . . . why I was bothered that he didn’t try harder. Just that fucking smirk. It was sexy as hell.

He read my message and shrugged as he typed.

Cameron’s Mac: You seem to enjoy coffee. I don’t have an agenda. You’re beautiful, I noticed. I wanted to drink coffee with you. You said no. I’m going to scrape up the rest of my pride now and head out.

He closed his laptop and stood while I deflated. Damn it. He was being nice. Since when are guys just . . . nice?

Am I a man hater? Have I become that woman?

I spoke up as he slipped his computer into a worn leather bag.

“I’m sorry,” I offered in quick apology. “I was expecting some horrible line or screwed up proposition. The web, messaging, anything that has to do with technology has been hazardous for me. I’ve seen enough unsolicited dick pics for a lifetime. I was just being cautious.” And that was the truth. But I’d said it aloud in verbal vomit. Did I really say “dick pics” out loud?

He chuckled again as he looked down at me from where he stood, then grinned.

“Today isn’t the right day.” The husky baritone of his voice matched the silky hue of his eyes, which seemed to darken as he looked me over.

“No?” I asked in a whisper as I sized up his six-foot-plus frame and imagined the possibilities.

“No,” he said. “Maybe we can not have coffee again sometime?”

He’d tapped out with a simple ‘no’ from me. He couldn’t have been that interested in the first place.

I couldn’t deny the disappointment welling up in my ovaries.

Okay.” I lifted the last syllable when he didn’t press further.

Cameron pulled out his wallet and set some money on his table then walked over to mine and did the same.

“At least let me buy your next cup.”

After setting the bills down, he stood over me briefly and I caught his scent—purely masculine. I inhaled as much as I could without being obvious. He didn’t smell like a psycho.

Cameron picked up his man–bag while I pictured running my fingers through his messy, inches thick, dark-brown hair.

Don’t let him leave. Tell him you aren’t that big of a bitch. But that would seem desperate. You aren’t desperate. But you are horny. Omg, are you horny??

As if reading my thoughts, I caught another flash of his teeth and had to bite my cheek to keep my reaction in check.

“I’ll see you.”

“Yeah, see you. And thanks,” I said to his retreating back, an octave louder than necessary. “For the coffee,” I added. Outside the window, Cameron bent and exchanged words with Bennie before sticking some cash in his hand.

Well, Abbie. Guess you’ll just have to wait until the next time you roll out of bed and a beautiful man hits on you. Should happen again, you IDIOT!

Once again, my hesitance had cost me. And I couldn’t help but feel like this time it cost me big.

Sagging into my seat, I continued to stare in his direction, watching those broad shoulders walk out of my life.

Sunny Shelly Reviews Take Me Down by Julie Kriss

A buttoned-up counsellor. A hot ex-con with secrets. One session that changes everything.

It was supposed to be simple: Let Jace Riggs walk into my counseling office, tell me how he’s adjusting to post-prison life, and let him walk out again. But the first thing I’ve learned is that nothing is simple with Jace.

He’s tall, muscled, bearded and tatted. He’s smarter than anyone else in the room and ten times more guarded. He’s hiding things that would break any other man to pieces. He’s a loner, a bad boy, and an infamous Riggs brother from the wrong side of the tracks.

He’s a hundred kinds of wrong for me. And even when I’m not his counsellor anymore, I still want to break down his defenses.

Jace has never trusted anyone – until me. He says I’m the only woman he wants close to him. The only woman he’s wanted in his bed – ever. And when he looks at me with that look of white-hot fire, I believe everything he says.

My own secrets could get Jace sent back to prison – or get him killed. And he doesn’t care.

We had so little time. We might not have until morning. But with the fire ignited between Jace and me, forever wouldn’t be long enough…

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

Sweet, sweet Jace!

After reading Drive Me Wild, I was wondering what Jace’s deal was. He definitely seemed the most sensitive and responsible of the Riggs brothers, and we get to know him quite well in Take Me Down.

When Jace gets out of prison — he was an informant that helped the authorities break up their dad’s stolen car ring in Take Me Down — he has a court-mandated counseling session with Tara. There is an immediate attraction between them, and they keep things professional (aside from their bickering and arguing) until after Jace is released from the probation program. They begin dating soon after, but Tara’s keeping something from Jace that could be quite damaging.

This story felt like instalove to me — they both fall head over heels for one another practically as soon as they meet. And I love the virgin twist where Jace is the one who has never had sex. There are so many virgin romances, but so few where the hero is the one still carrying the V Card. However, I felt like maybe he gave it up too soon. There was this whole discussion between Jace and Tara about why he never has, and he felt like he wasn’t good enough for her… and then he just goes and does it. I would have appreciated a little more build-up to that moment, more of his inner dialogue.

Take Me Down is a standalone within the Riggs Brothers series, but I do think you should go and read Luke’s story in Drive Me Wild! Ryan’s story is up next, but it’s Dex that I really want to get to know!

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Cooper Hawke was everything I didn’t need. Rich and famous, and a high-profile actor, he lived a life of luxury while my life had always been much more simple.

Yet when he showed up at my cattle ranch in Kansas, he gave me everything I didn’t think I wanted again.

His marriage was over and he was lost.

I was still barely surviving in my grief after my husband’s sudden death.

As hard as I tried to keep him out, he slipped past my defenses, and slowly, a connection grew between us I could no longer deny.

But this time around, we were on borrowed time. Because Cooper still had his real life waiting for him back in Hollywood.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

The title of this book is absolutely perfect. Cooper is a Hollywood superstar facing a brutal divorce after learning that the wife he adored has been cheating on him during the course of their entire relationship. So he reluctantly agrees to hide out for the summer helping his agent’s widowed niece on her cattle farm. They’ve both been hurt by love before, but when Cooper and Rebecca start to fall in love with one another — knowing that whatever they have has an expiration date as he’s due on a movie set in a few months — will it be different this time around?

The story is absolutely charming, and the slow burn between the characters made the payoff well worth the wait. Watching Cooper adjust to life on the ranch made me fall in love with him, and the inner turmoil Rebecca goes through in trying to figure out whether or not she was ready to move on after her husband’s death was heartbreaking. (The scene with the closet had me in tears!) Especially with Cooper, knowing that he wouldn’t be sticking around long-term.

These characters were wonderful together; for as vastly different as their lives are, Cooper and Rebecca know the pain of adultery and a lost love, and that enabled them to connect on a level that she may not have otherwise.

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

TTA-TEASER6 (3).jpg

Excerpt:

“What are you doing here?” I wrapped the robe around my waist, tightened the knot.

Goddamn it! He wasn’t supposed to see this.

“Couldn’t sleep?”

That was what he asked. The urge to scream at him, to unleash holy terror for putting the idea into my head and making me feel, clawed at my throat. “No. Why are you in my room?”

“Because I couldn’t sleep on the couch thinking of you and then I started hearing all this racket like the ceiling was going to cave in on my head and thought I should come check on you.”

My brain must have malfunctioned. I must have skipped some words, rearranged them in the wrong order. He didn’t say what it sounded like.

“What?”

He pinned me with a look. It stole the breath from my lungs. “You heard me.”

Shit.

“Yeah, shit.”

I slammed my mouth closed. If words were slipping out, when I didn’t mean them to, it was best to be quiet.

“Come out of the closet, Rebecca.”

He held out his hand. I ignored it.

I couldn’t breathe or move or focus.

He was standing outside my closet, and he was naked.

Not naked, naked. Mostly naked. He’d taken off the pants and shirt I’d given him and all he had on was a pair of black boxer briefs.

Skin-tight boxer briefs.

That showed every outline of him. And there was a lot of him to see.

My eyes darted to the side of the closet I’d swiped clean. Tomorrow, I’d bleach my eyes to erase that visual.

“Rebecca.”

“I’m fine here.”

He laughed low and slow, beautiful and over too quickly. I was not moving.

“You don’t come out, I’m coming in there to get you.”

No way in hell was he touching me. Not dressed like that.

I stepped over the bucket of shoes at my feet and stepped into the room. He moved back, giving me space and crossed his arms over his chest.

It hid nothing. I couldn’t find a place to focus on.

I was losing my mind. It had to be sleep deprivation. I looked to my bed and ruffled covers which made me think of…

Nope. Not going there. I stared at the wall. It was cream and void of any decorations or photos. It was safe.

Finally, I breathed. He stood there, watching me, I felt it like I felt my skin crawling from his inspection.

“Want to talk about this?” he asked.

Nope. I didn’t. I didn’t want to say a single word to Cooper Hawke. The man in underwear in my bedroom.

I crossed my arms over my stomach. Uncrossed them. “No.” My hands went to my hair and I untangled my hair tie, shoving my hands back into my hair and re-fixing the messy knot. “I don’t want to talk about it.”

“I might be able to help, you know. It’s not like I haven’t stood in a closet, wanting to do the exact same thing you’ve just done.”

“You can’t help me.”

He stepped closer. I shuffled back. He moved again. I retreated. He was getting closer when he needed to move back.

“Cooper,” I said, “Please. I need to be alone.”

“I thought we were friends.”

“What?” My gaze jumped to him, fell. Tight, tanned skin and black boxer briefs. A trail of hair from his bellybutton that disappeared beneath those briefs burned into my retinas. I squeezed my eyes closed. A futile attempt to erase that pretty, pretty sight.

“I thought we were friends,” he repeated.

I forced my eyes open and choked out, “We are.”

His full lips quirked into a grin. I knew that look. He had it downstairs. I did not like that look. Not one little bit. “Friends help each other, don’t they?”

“Friends respect what the other person wants and needs.”

I scooted away from him again and bumped into the wall next to my closet.

He took one more step toward me. Slowly. Like he’d done downstairs, allowing me time to move away, allowing me time to see his intention. My head screamed to move out of the way while my body shouted stay right where you are.

My body sucked.

He was in front of me, not touching me. Far enough away where he was in no danger of touching me.

I still wanted him to touch me.

His hand raised and he settled it on the wall above my shoulder. And I could smell him.

“Cooper. Why are you here?”

He didn’t even blink. “Because I want to help you.”

“You can’t.”

“I can try.”

Synopsis

This whole contest was supposed to be easy. I know, I know. Famous last words.

It’s a long story, but I messed up at work. Big time. To earn back the trust of my boss, I promised to save one of our magazines. Yep. That Hot Dad contest you’ve seen advertised all over the place was my idea. And if I’m successful, if I’m able to increase our online readership, then I get a shot at my dream job.

But the one thing I never expected to happen, happened: Contestant number ten, Grayson Malone. Hello, Mr. Difficult. And did I mention sexy as hell?

Unfortunately he knows me. The old me, anyway. And while we might be older now, I remind him of before. Of the woman who broke his heart, who hardened him, and who left him alone to raise the cutest little boy I’ve ever seen.

But I don’t want a relationship. And I definitely don’t fall for single dads with baggage. Even ones with chiseled abs and killer smiles.

But he got to me. They got to me. Him and his son and their messy, crazy life.  But I got to him too. I see the stolen glances. I feel the walls he built start to crumble. I recognize that there’s an unexpected beauty to the chaos in his life.

And now that the contest is about to end, we’re left to decide whether the last six months were just fun or if what we have is worth risking it all?

Cover Reveal: Mister Tonight, by Kendall Ryan is Coming June 8

We are thrilled to bring you the cover for MISTER TONIGHT the swoony new romantic standalone from New York Times bestselling author Kendall Ryan releasing on JUNE 18th!

From New York Times bestselling author Kendall Ryan comes a standalone romance about a swoony single dad and the new neighbor he falls for.

Last night was the most embarrassing night of my life.

I was THAT girl.

You know, the highly intoxicated chick celebrating her thirtieth with her two best friends—the ones who are happily married. And the more I drank, the more I wanted to do something reckless to celebrate.

By reckless, I meant the sexy and alluring man dressed in a business suit standing near the bar. You know his type—tall, dark, and handsome. I was sure he was out of my league, but I’d had just enough alcohol that things like that no longer seemed to matter. I’m not fat, mind you, but you can tell I like French fries, so there’s that.

He took me home and I enjoyed the hottest birthday sex of my life, well until it came to a screeching, and rather unwelcome halt.

There’s nothing quite like being interrupted mid-ride with a little voice asking:

“What are you doing to my daddy?”

Just kill me now…… or so I thought.

Come to find out the man I rode like a bull at the rodeo is my new landlord.

Or will she discover the only truth that matters?

Epoch pushes the boundaries of what we believe and what we know. It redefines fate and proves that the only thing separating the heart and the soul is an infinite timeline.

“I think a part of you will be mine to love in every life.”

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Amazing Stars

I finished reading Epoch a few days ago, and my brain is still a bit jumbled to the point that I don’t know how to start writing this review. The conclusion to Transcend, Epoch picks up exactly where the previous book left off.

I honestly didn’t know how I wanted this triangle to end. Nate and Griffin are such starkly different characters, but I felt the connection that Swayze has with each of them. Swayze is so torn between the two, as was my shipping status. I honestly didn’t know which guy to root for. Is this the time for Daisy and Nate to continue their love? Will the curse of Daisy cause damage beyond repair in Swayze’s relationship with Griffin?

“I think a part of you will be mine to love in every life.”

“You didn’t wake the dead. You comforted the living.”

Go into it with an open mind, because the concept of reincarnation is not something you will often see in the romance world. But this story will break you apart, piece you back together, flip you upside down and leave your heart bleeding. And then you will get to that epilogue, and close the book with a huge smile on your face. Epoch is simply epic. I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Cover Designer: QuirkyBird Designs

Photographer: Rafa Garcia

Model: Christian Balic

Synopsis:

Each day I prayed for my husband to love me again.

After seventeen years together, he walked away from me, and into the arms of another.

I didn’t know how to cope. I didn’t know my worth. I didn’t know how to exist without him by my side.

All I wanted was for him to come back to me.

Then, Jackson Emery appeared.

He was supposed to be a distraction for my mind. A summer fling. A confidence boost to my bruised heart.

We were perfect for one another, because we both knew we wouldn’t last. Jackson didn’t believe in commitment, and I no longer believed in love. He was too young for me, and I was too damaged for him.

Everything was fine, until one night my heart skipped a beat.

I didn’t expect him to make me laugh. To make me think. To make my sadness somewhat disappear.

When our time was up, my heart didn’t know how to walk away.

Each day I prayed for my husband to love me again, yet slowly my prayers began to shift toward the man who wasn’t right for me.

I prayed for one more smile, one more kiss, one more laugh, one more touch…

I prayed for him to be mine.

Even though I knew his heart wasn’t destined to love.

BLURB

Aloha, romance. Aloha, big blue sea. Aloha, handsome husband.

It’s been fourteen years since Justin and I got married, promptly got pregnant and buried under bills and diapers and jobs and playdates. Although our love remains steady and strong, an avalanche of daily details have taken us farther away from each other. I’ve lost count of how many years it’s been since we were truly alone.

But here we are now, in idyllic Hawaii, on the dream honeymoon we’ve been–well–dreaming about for years. There’s a roast suckling pig, my husband in a lei, and a sunset over the ocean that would put Bob Ross to shame. Still, we seem to be missing each other, like two hula dancers passing in the night.

I’ve got four days to put the spark back in this marriage and I’m bringing out the big guns: sexy dress, strappy heels, grotto sex to scandalize the other guests. But when the outside world starts infringing on this intimate scene, my husband’s eyes move to a hot new business prospect instead of hot little me.

If a honeymoon in paradise can’t bring us back together, do we really have a shot at this thing? Can we say aloha to each other again?

EXCERPT

What a great, still-sexy husband I have who is rocking a white polo shirt with relaxed-yet-not-slouchy cargo shorts and who turns around, whips his sunglasses off, and gives me a breathtaking, gleaming smile. I swear, if this was a John Woo movie, slow motion doves would fly through the background to accentuate Justin’s handsomeness before John Travolta jumped out of nowhere and threatened me with a gun.

“Thank you.” Justin tips the kid, who leaves us all alone. Here, in our elaborate honeymoon suite with the doors open to a sunshine-filled balcony, and the crash of waves in the background. The air smells like papayas, and our luxurious, king-sized bed is just waiting for a welcoming embrace.

Justin runs a hand through his shining blond hair and walks over to me. How is it that after all these years of being married, of being up with one of the kids at three in the morning, of car trips and fights over which mayonnaise to get, I’m still so awestruck by this man? You never know when your good luck is going to show. If Justin and I hadn’t been on the same meal plan in college, we probably wouldn’t be here right now.

Thank you, Sloppy Joe night. You gave me a life.

“Well. The bathroom’s clean,” I say at last, in what I hope is a sultry voice. Justin chuckles, and takes me into his arms.

“I can always count on you for the important details,” he murmurs, and then kisses me. The kiss is so spine tingling I don’t even beat myself up too hard about my killer opening line. You really know the way to a guy’s libido, Charlotte. “I think there’s a gorgeous view on the balcony.” Justin pulls away, sliding an arm around my waist. “Want to see?”

Since the balcony opens directly onto the bedroom, yes. I would like to see that. All the better to soak up some sun and then take a flying leap into bed. We stroll out and onto said balcony, still wrapped around each other. Good. Then I see that the thoughtful staff members have left us flutes of champagne and a bowl of oranges on the patio table. The drinks sparkle in the Hawaiian sunlight.

Everyone is getting a tip. Including me, hopefully. Well, more than the tip. A lot more.

I think this is what mental blather feels like.

“You’re awfully quiet.” Justin clinks glasses with me, his eyebrows lifting in surprise. “You okay, Char?”

“Oh, you know me. Ready and willing.” Whatever that means. My face heats up as I take a nice, stiff drink. Good, the magical alcohol is working.

Justin and I have always been the quieter, just-do-it members of the family. It’s why we work so well together. At least, I think we work together. But then again, we’ve been standing here for minutes and I’ve sucked down all of this champagne and I still haven’t spoken a word, have I? Why am I so nervous to be around my husband? How much time apart have we had, that I actually feel awkward around him?

“You drank that fast!” Justin plucks the flute from my hand, sets it back on the table. Maybe I should do us both a favor and accidentally tip myself over the balcony railing. I’ll probably land in the safety of a hammock or a field of coconuts, whichever comes first.

“I wonder if they have hammocks down by the beach,” I find myself saying aloud. Justin looks surprised, then laughs. Laughter breaks over his face like a ray of pure, heavenly sunlight…or a glass of champagne, whichever is more delicious.

“I want to know what on earth you’re thinking,” he says as he takes me into his arms. Mmm, that’s good. Then he kisses me, one quick brush of lips before deepening the kiss. He tilts my head back, cradling my neck. Then, slowly, his other hand leaves my waist and travels upward, to trace up the swell of my breast.

Hello. Aloha. Whatever, this feels good.
