Hold You Close, an all-new second chance standalone romance by New York Times bestselling author Corinne Michaels and USA Today bestselling author Melanie Harlow, is available now!

Synopsis

From NYT Bestseller Corinne Michaels & USA Today Bestseller Melanie Harlow, comes a second chance standalone romance.

Ian Chase broke my heart at seventeen, and I’ve spent the last eighteen years hating him for it.

He makes it easy, with his smart mouth and playboy lifestyle—which I unfortunately have to observe since he lives behind me. Every time I see him climbing out of his pool, practically naked and unreasonably sexy, my blood boils.

I’ve always loved to loathe him.

I never planned to need him.

***

London Parish is my little sister’s best friend, not that it stopped me from falling for her.

Our history is complicated. The only thing we have in common is being godparents to my sister’s three adorable kids—until our lives are changed in one tragic moment.

Now we’re trying to raise the children we love, mourn an unthinkable loss, and fight an undeniable attraction.

My life is already upside-down, and the last thing I need is for old feelings to resurface.

Because I’ll never be able to keep her, no matter how hard I try to hold her close.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

I so enjoyed this second-chance romance! It was a fabulous collaboration between Corinne Michaels and Melanie Harlow.

London has been in love with her best friend’s brother, Ian, for as long as she can remember. And they shared one magical night together as teenagers before he decimated her heart. In the years since, London and Ian can barely stand to be in the same room with one another. She hates him for the way that he treated her that night, and he hates the way she’s always such a witch around him. Except that Ian *has* to force himself to hate London because all he really wants to do is… hold her close.

When Ian’s sister, Sabrina, and her husband unexpectedly die, he’s left with custody of her three kids. And since Auntie London knows the three kids’ schedules as well as Sabrina had, she’s right there with him as a surrogate mother, despite the way she feels about their Uncle Ian. And when the close quarters force Ian and London to admit that they are still very much in love with one another, will old habits and selfish choices tear them apart once again?

I loved the barbs exchanged between the two. I loved all of the awkward situations that arose due to their proximity of being backyard neighbors. My heart broke for the kids and the circumstances that led to London and Ian being their guardians, but that all led to some wonderful moments between not only the MC but the new family unit as well.

And when Ian makes the second biggest mistake of his life… he goes big to win London back!

This book was marvelous all around, and I hope that there will be more to come from MH and CM together as a duo! I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Excerpt:

“Ian,” my bartender, Toby, calls with his hand out.

“What’s up?”

“You have a call.” He pushes the phone toward me.

No one calls the club for me other than vendors, and it’s eleven-thirty at night, so whoever it is can wait.

“I have to deal with something now, send them to my voicemail.”

He shakes his head. “She’s called three times.” The annoyance in his voice is clear, even over the music.

She?

The only woman that would resort to calling the club is my ex-wife. God only knows what bullshit she wants now. For all I know she broke a nail, it’s my fault, and she thinks I should pay for her new manicure, or a hand replacement. She’s like the gift you’ve tried to return but can’t find the receipt for, so you’re stuck with it. I hate unwanted presents, and I hate Jolene.

“Send the devil to my voicemail,” I say and walk away.

I head out to the sidewalk. Drea wasn’t kidding, the line is nuts. “Hello, Officer,” I say to the pudgy cop standing next to the bouncer.

“Mr. Chase, we’re getting complaints,” he says, looking down the sidewalk at the line.

“I can’t help that we’re popular.” I shrug. “I’m at capacity, and can’t kick out the paying customers to take care of the line.”

“You’re obstructing the entrances of other businesses because of the way your overflow lines are set up.”

How the hell would they like me to handle it? We’re not inside the casino, there’s no way to control the line. I’m not about to turn away people when we hit the number ten. This is a business, and part of the free marketing I get is thanks to the line.

“All right, I’ll figure something out.” I grip the back of my neck.

I feel my phone vibrate in my pocket. If this is Jolene, I swear to God, I might lose my fucking mind.

The name flashes across the screen, London Parish. For fuck’s sake. Like I need to deal with my sister’s uptight, irritating best friend right now. London would be incredibly hot if she wasn’t such a raging bitch. I look at my call log and see this is the third time she’s called.

I walk down the strip a little, and after a few deep breaths, I call her back.

“Ian, you need to come to my house.”

I smirk. “Well, this is a first. Did you have the stick removed from your ass?”

“Don’t. Not today, please. Just come here.” I hear her sniff and my protectiveness kicks in. Someone made her cry. We don’t get along at all—partly because we’re polar opposites and partly because of our history—but no one gets to make her cry.

“Are you hurt?” I ask.

“Not in the way you think.” Her voice hitches.

I’ve known London for twenty-five years. I can count on one hand how many times I’ve seen or heard her cry—I was the reason one of those times.

“What’s wrong? Is it an emergency? Because I’m at work and the club—”

“Now, Ian. You need to come here now.”

She also doesn’t play games.

Fuck.

I look at my watch and blow a deep breath through my nose. It’ll take me at least thirty minutes to get there. This is seriously a shitty night. “I’ll be there as soon as I can.”

“Just . . . hurry,” London says and hangs up.

Dread pulls at my stomach, telling me there’s something going on. I don’t know what, but I know I need to get there.

“Get rid of the line, no more get in,” I tell the bouncer, and then head inside.

Drea is at the bar, and my anxiety is starting to grow. London needs me there, why? What happened? Did someone break into her house? Mine? Maybe it has to do with an ex, if she even has one, or it could be nothing like that. Regardless, her voice was shaky and I can’t waste time wondering.

“I have to go,” I tell Drea.

Her eyes widen. “Go? Go where? It’s a packed house.”

“I’m aware of that, but something came up. I need you to handle things tonight.” I turn to Toby. “Stay until Drea is done closing and I want you to escort her to her car at the end of the night.”

He nods.

I never let her walk out of here alone. Even if I have someone coming home with me, Drea’s not going to be unescorted. Too many men get the wrong impression because she’s nice to them. Over my dead body will she be hurt as a result of working at my club.

After I get in the car, my mind is racing. I drive faster than I should, telling myself that London is just being dramatic.

And then I remember . . . she has my nephew and nieces at her house.

My foot pushes down on the pedal of my Jaguar, making the engine howl with each mile. I turn into the development where we both live, pass my house, and head to hers. I still hate that our backyards touch. Every damn day I see her sitting out on her deck, reading her books, looking down at me with her disapproving attitude.

When I get there, the flashing lights of a police car brighten the road. I don’t think. I don’t know if I even put the car in park before I’m out of the vehicle.

“London!” I yell as I rush through the door. “Christopher? Morgan? Ruby?” I call out for the kids, praying it’s not one of them.

When I get to the living room, I release a heavy sigh—they’re all there, not hurt.

Then I see the tears streaming down Morgan’s face. London gets to her feet. Her eyes are red, puffy, and black mascara runs down her cheeks. “Ian.” She chokes on my name.

“What’s wrong? What happened?”

The girls start to cry again, and my nephew pulls them into his arms.

London moves toward me, placing her hand on my chest. “They’re gone.”

“Who?” I ask, confused.

“Sabrina and David,” she whispers.

Yeah, they went on a trip. Why the hell are they crying? “This is what you called me for? They’ll be home in a few days. Why are you crying too?” I ask.

Her green eyes meet mine and her lips part. “No.” She shakes her head. “They won’t.”

I look over at the kids again, and then to the muted television. My feet move closer, because I have to be sure the words flashing across the screen say what I think they say. “Flight 1184 crashes off the coast of Hawaii. Three hundred missing and presumed dead.”

My sister was going to Hawaii.

My sister is gone.

I sink to my knees in front of the kids, unsure what to say. They just lost their parents, and my heart is breaking. My sister was my best friend. She was the one who pushed me to open Veil and do what I wanted. I’ve always had her support, and now she’s gone.

Christopher lifts his head, his brown eyes filled with unshed tears. “They’ll find them,” he says with conviction.

“Okay,” I reply. We both know it’s a lie, but it’s one he has to tell himself. I remember being fifteen; there was no telling me I was wrong.

“Dad wouldn’t . . .” he starts, and then stops as his lip quivers.

My own tears start to fall, as Morgan grabs my hand. “What do we do now?”

I have no fucking clue. How do I tell these kids how to survive? I’m the last person in the world equipped to give this advice. I look to London. Her hand touches my shoulder and she wipes the tears that fall silently down her cheeks.

“We hold each other close,” she says.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: Payback’s A Bitch, by Missy Johnson

Title: Payback’s A Bitch
Series: Awkward Love #6
Author: Missy Johnson
Genre: Romance
Release Date: August 27, 2018
Blurb

I’m the girl who likes ‘the cock in the back hole’At least, that’s what the dating profile my so-called friends set up for me
claims. I’m also into BDSM, Furries and ‘I’ll try anything twice.’

I have no idea the profile exists until the replies start rolling in. They
range from funny, to downright creepy and everything in between. Just as I’m
shutting down my email account for good, a new message pops up.

He’s funny and he’s the only one to suspect the profile is a joke, so I think
what the hell? I reply.

When he suggests that we meet, I say yes. When I walk into that bar, he’s
sitting at a table, facing the other way. He turns his head just enough for me
to be able to make out his face…

Fuck.

It’s Cameron Hunter, one of the rudest, most arrogant assholes I’ve ever had
the displeasure of meeting.

He’s also the son of one of the state’s most influential judges.

The same judge who’s about to become my step-father…

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

Payback’s A Bitch is the latest standalone in Missy Johnson’s Awkward Love series, and it’s running a close second for me next to It’s Complicated.

Darcy’s birthday falls on April Fool’s Day, so her friend’s are always pranking her. This year’s joke involves a rather detailed profile on a dating site… and leads to her stepbrother-to-be (whom she hates) answering her ad as a joke. Except that Darcy starts to fall for James, the guy she’s been messengering, having no clue that it’s actually Cameron.

What saves Cam from being a complete jerk is that he planned to tell Darcy the truth. But then she turns the tables on him and goes Stage 5 Clinger as payback. As they both are playing each other, lines get blurry and feelings start to get involved, but what’s real and what is part of the game?

There are lots of hilarious moments in this book. And Cameron’s little brother is a kid I want to see have his own romance book one day! Loved Mack!

Overall, I really liked this book. The games between Darcy and Cam remind me of that Friends episode: But they don’t know that we know that they know! I did find that the transition from fake dating to jumping into bed with one another came a little fast. It seemed forced. But I still really liked the story and how Cam and Darcy got together.

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

A Standalone Contemporary Romance Novel

By: NY Times, USA Today, and #1 Wall Street Journal Best Selling Author, Penelope Ward

LOVE ONLINE LIVE NOW

Synopsis:

From New York Times bestselling author Penelope Ward, comes a new, sexy STANDALONE novel.

We met in the least likely of places. It started out innocently enough. I was “ScreenGod” and she was “Montana,” but of course, those weren’t our actual names, just the virtual cloaks we hid behind.

Logging in at night and talking to her was my escape—my sanctuary.

Her real name was Eden, I’d soon come to find out.

From the first time we connected online, I found myself transfixed.

She was an addiction.

At first, we knew nothing about each other’s real identities…and she was adamant that we keep things that way. Anonymity had no effect on our unstoppable chemistry, though. If anything, it allowed us to open up even more in ways we may not have otherwise.

Eden was funny, intelligent, gorgeous—everything I’d ever wanted in a woman.

But I couldn’t really have her.

I had accepted things would have to stay the way they were—until the day I found a clue that led me straight to her.

So I took a chance.

And that was when our love story really began.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: Stiff, by Kim Linwood

37618176_939907476193291_8520810997496152064_n.jpg

Small town. Big ego. Huge… plans?

Carter Graves is as smooth as the weave of his designer suit, and just as out of my price range. He sweeps into Wittville ready to wheel, deal and melt some panties, quickly topping my short list of men I love to hate and would hate to love.

Before I know it, he’s got his sexy eyes set on me and his talented hands all over my business.

My family’s business, of course. What were you thinking?

The contract he waves in my face will turn my quiet little life upside down, but it’s his seductive smile that threatens to do the same to my heart. If he really thinks being the hottest guy in town is enough to make me roll over and let him turn us into just another faceless franchise, he’s got another think coming.

I’m not signing unless he can convince me he wants more than just another notch on his resume. Or his bedpost.

There’s just one problem with my strategy.

The harder I make him work, the harder it will be to watch him go.

Stiff is a full length stand-alone romance with no cheating and a resounding happily ever after.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

These are words I never thought I’d write about a romance book, but Stiff is an adorable love story about two… funeral home owners!

Sadie’s parents run a small-town funeral parlor, and are looking to retire. While they are on vacation and she’s running the business, they entrust her to work out the final details of the contract with the Graves family, who operate big-box-type funeral homes. (And could that name be any more perfect?!?!) Sadie’s already against the idea of her parents selling out, so her world is really rocked when drop-dead gorgeous Carter Graves — who she has an awkward meet-cute with at the local flower shop — turns out to be the rep handling the rest of the negotiations.

Carter and Sadie flip-flop between arguing like crazy and making out like horny teenagers. The attraction is sizzling, and there is a lot at stake personally for both of them as well, so the story goes deeper than being just fluff. Sadie doesn’t want to lose the intimate connection her family’s business has with the community, and Carter is desperately trying to prove to his family that he is more than the pretty face they trot out to close a deal

Stiff is full of so many funny moments, like an awkward billboard desecration and a game of naked hide and seek in a room of caskets. I adored Sadie and Carter; they are well-written and their romance is definitely an intriguing one. The secondary characters are wildly entertaining as well, so the Graves family series is off to a wonderful start with Stiff. I really hope that Zoe and Bran get a story ASAP!

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

tried to move on. I tried to love another but he broke my heart. Now I’m back

Release Blitz: Cinder Royal, by Mila Crawford

I was royalty, a prince. I was expected to act a certain way, do certain things. But I wanted something more out of life.

I wanted love.

Then fate threw me a curve ball in the form of a gorgeous commoner, someone I shouldn’t marry because of how different our lives were, but she was the only woman I’d ever wanted.

From the moment I saw Cindy I knew she was the one.

My wife.

My Queen.

The woman I’d give my virginity to.

She didn’t see herself as worthy.

But Cindy was everything I’d ever wanted and more.

It was time I showed her that it didn’t matter where we were in life … to me she was all I needed.

To me she was Cinderella.Warning: This is sugary sweet fairytale retelling with dual virgins who only want each other, and a happily ever after that is sure to give you a toothache..

I took her to my penthouse apartment in the city, the closest place I could think of, and one that would give us privacy. I wanted her in my space, surrounded by my things, my scent.

After I’d gotten her a glass of wine and showed her around, we stood by the window for long moments, just staring at the city below. We talked about our families, what it was like being royalty, what it was like for her growing up.

It was perfect.

Turning toward her, I pulled her into my arms and held her for a moment, listening to her breath hitch as I wrapped my hands around her hips. She was soft and warm. Having Cindy, knowing she was mine, that I’d claim every inch of her tonight, was a heady, powerful feeling.

“Take me to your room,” she said softly after a few moments. I pulled back and looked into her eyes, my heart thundering at those words.

“You’re sure?”

She rose up on her toes and kissed me. “I’m sure,” she said against my mouth.

I took the lead, moving through my apartment, taking her to my room. The next time I was with her would be at the palace. But right now, this was perfect even if I wanted her to have so much more.

And I was more than fine with that.

I had her on the bed seconds later. She looked up at me, so much innocence and vulnerability on her face.

“I should have made this special for you, more romantic. I should have you on a bed of silk, your body primed before I devoured you.”

She gasped and closed her eyes.

“This is perfect because it’s what I want.”

I held in my groan of pleasure at the fact that I was about to finally have this beautiful woman, that I was about to give myself over to her … give her my virginity.

“It’s only you,” I whispered. “You’re the only one.”

She gasped again and I knew she was aware of what I meant.

“Alex,” she whispered, her pleasure clear in her voice and in her expression. A moment of silence passed before she licked her lips and glanced down. “You’re my first.”

My heart thundered at hearing her words, knowing that in this moment we’d both give ourselves to each other.

“Undress for me,” I said deeply, darkly. I watched as she got undressed, then stood there and stared at all her perfect flesh revealed. She was mine … only mine. I forced myself not to grab my cock and stroke the bastard, ease the ache that settled heavily between my legs.

My dick was hard, throbbing, my balls drawn up tight to my body.

Cindy breathed heavily, her breasts rising and falling softly, her nipples tight, hard. My mouth watered for a taste.

“Alex.” She whispered my name again and I groaned in pleasure.

“You have no fucking idea how much I want you.” I took a step forward and started getting undressed. I worked my belt free first, then went for the button of my pants. When I was out of my slacks and boxer briefs, I started unbuttoning my shirt. Damn all these fucking layers.

Blog Tour: Sunny Shelly Reviews The Dog Walker’s Diary, by Kathryn Donahue

Title: The Dog Walker’s Diary
Author: Kathryn Donahue
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Cover Designer: Madeline Berger
Editor: Kelsy Thompson
Hosted by: Lady Amber’s PR
Blurb:
Daniel Ashe has reason to believe he is incapable of falling in love. He certainly has no romantic interest in Annie, the odd Irish woman he hired to walk his dogs – but every night he comes home to find she has left him a new and fantastical story about their secret lives. His dachshund is a buccaneer on the high seas, his retriever recounts a past life as a circus lion, and Daniel is cast time and again as a romantic hero.
As her stories become the highlight of his day, Daniel realizes that Annie is embedding hints about her own astonishing past, and he has to ask himself if he’s truly incapable of falling in love after all.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 3.5 Stars

I thought that The Dog Walker’s Diary started off really strong. It’s an interesting concept, and I found the journal entries that Annie writes to Daniel to be rather amusing. It was a cute, out-of-the-ordinary way for the couple to fall for one another.

But then the second part of the book felt like I was reading something completely different. The tone was different, and the book became a mystery with a betrayal that felt like it came out of nowhere. The story was overall enjoyable, and not your typical romance trope, but I felt like there were two different novels that got smushed together.

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Kathryn Donahue is a freelance writer and former tongue-in-cheek advice columnist for The Deepwell Press. Her humor essays have been published in First Sunday, and she won the Spotlight Award for her one-act play The Sty. Her debut novel, The Dog Walker’s Diary, is a Forward finalist for Indie Book of the Year. It earned a coveted star review from Publishers Weekly, ( “… a diverting delight from beginning to end,”) and a four star rating from RT Book Reviews, (“… one of the most remarkably unique contemporary romances this year.”) Ms. Donahue is completing a new novel, and working on a screenplay.

Dog Diary

Dear Annie,
Your stories are back in here, but during their short hiatus to my office I showed them to my boss. After reading them, Peter took off his glasses and said, “So you’re telling me that this woman leaves you a new fairy tale every night?”
     “Yes. Every night.”
“Then you know what she is, don’t you?”
     “What do you mean?”
“This Irish woman. Do you know what she is?”
I shook my head. “What are you talking about? What is she?”
“Wake up, Daniel. That dog walker of yours is a Scheherazade.”
Annie, you didn’t respond to my invitation, and in looking back I can see how easily it could be misconstrued. If I were a woman, alone and in a different country, I might not agree to meet a semi-stranger for coffee either, even if I had been entertaining him for days with fantastical stories.
So please, allow me to make myself less of a stranger.
I am known by a small but select group of females as a heartless jerk incapable of falling in love. Each in turn soon gave up on me, more with a sad shake of the head than with dishes flying. It has happened so often that I have to concede the ladies are right. Apparently I have skipped or tripped over some developmental step that makes me incapable of true intimacy. I’ve made my peace with that, and recently have been lucky enough to meet Victoria, a lady who seems to suffer the same affliction. (Does that make us soul mates or soul-less mates?)

Blog Tour: Sunny Shelly Reviews Dating The Prince, by Alina Snow

Dating The Prince
Alina Snow
(What If Series, #1)
Publication date: May 7th 2018
Genres: Comedy, New Adult, Romance

Small-town girl, Katie O’Connor has always dreamed of seeing her name in lights. Check the box for fame, a movie deal, the perfect leading role that comes with a gorgeous leading man! Katie moved to Hollywood, elbows her way into auditions, lives on a shoestring budget—whatever is required to land a deal, she throws her heart into… until she’s involved in a royal kidnapping.

As the future king, Prince Alexander refuses to rule from an ivory tower. Duty-bound, he intends to relate to his future subjects, regardless of their walk of life. Before his coronation, he needs a foolproof plan to outrun his security team and go temporarily AWOL. While visiting L.A., all it takes is a sound stage collision and Alex is blindsided by a headstrong woman who is simply irresistible. So much so, he calls in a favor in order to secure her help … as his pretend girlfriend.

Their worlds are oceans apart, but their immediate attraction is impossible to put aside, especially their nonstop banter. Miffed at being wrangled into a situation that might blow up in her face, Katie comes up with her own plan. If The Prince is serious about walking the walk of the common folk, she’s only too happy to oblige as his pretend girlfriend. Through an ice storm, a road trip, kitchen duty, and a Texas pig race, Alex captures the hearts of the locals as well as Ms. O’Connor’s.

What starts out as a deal Katie can’t refuse becomes the acting role of a lifetime… letting Prince Alexander go without a fight.

A delightfully funny retelling of The Prince and The Pauper that romance readers of all ages will enjoy. On a two-week 1,500-mile road trip, Katie and Alex discover the end of the road might just be the beginning of their ‘Happy Ever After’ together.

Goodreads / Amazon

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

Dating The Prince is a cute, somewhat predictable, feel-good romance, right along the lines of the feel-good movies I love to watch on the Hallmark Channel! Alex is about to become the king of a small country (because, of course!) when he randomly bumps into sweet, funny, Katie. He’s immediately smitten, as is she, and he asks her to be his tour guide.

Katie agrees, on the condition that she be his pretend girlfriend. The road trip they embark upon leads to lots of playful banter and awkward situations, and Alex and Katie soon find that their fauxmance is feeling more and more real. But can this prince and the pauper turn the undeniable spark between them into something real and ever-lasting?

Realistic? Not at all. An escape? Absolutely. The story is entertaining, the characters are engaging, and Dating The Prince is a binge-worthy feel-good read. I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.
