This was the first story I’ve read by Jennifer Woodhull, and I was quite impressed!

Rome is a musician looking for something more meaningful than playing on another country rock album. When he gets the opportunity to play for Scottish singer Lauren, it seems like the perfect opportunity.

Except that Lauren is an icy bitch. It’s not her fault, as she’s been through hell and back recently. It’s hardened her, and she believes if she keeps everyone at arms distance, she won’t be hurt again. But there is something about the sexy Southerner that she is drawn to, and vice verse. A beautiful love is born between the two of them, but when Lauren gets the wrong idea about Rome and a colleague, will she shut Rome out or believe in what they’ve built together?

I adored this book, the journey that Lauren takes in trusting in her heart again and in trusting Rome. His relationship with his sisters is awesome, and now I need to go read Georgia and Celia’s books! I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

This book was an emotional one for me. I never experienced the infertility that tore Jessica and Danny apart, but I did suffer a miscarriage with my first pregnancy, so I felt and understood every emotion she went through in feeling broken and like a failure.

It’s four years after their divorce when Jessica and Danny both end up being back in their small hometown. At first, the run-ins with Danny destroy her, but Jessica eventually gets to a place where they can discuss their past and the issues that tore them apart. And that is the crux of their problem. Jessica just pushed and shut Danny out, and It wasn’t until she began to communicate that they were able to move on. Neither had stopped loving the other, and that was apparent in every interaction.

This couple was magnificent, their story was heartbreaking and heartwarming all at the same time. And their HEA proves that families come in all different ways.

This Christmas-themes hockey anthology has something for everyone: a couple struggling with their relationship, second chance romances, M/M and more.

I am reviewing The Final Slapshot, by Jean C. Joachim. I really enjoyed the different sides to Kitty and Deke’s relationship in this story. He’s hiding a career-ending secret, which she actually knows about and is struggling with how to make them a same-city couple once again. Thinking that a divorce is the best option for his beautiful wife, so she won’t have to be saddled with him, Deke puts the plans into motion without discussing it first. The blow-up leads to some really pure, honest moments with this couple, and Deke eventually comes to realize that there is more to hockey than being on the ice itself.
