BLURB:

Loch

I wish I could say it was love at first sight. But I can’t.

Snarky.

Impatient.

Demanding.

Everything about the woman standing next to me was complicated, from her designer clothes to her coffee order. I don’t do complicated unless it comes with a good time. And then it’s only for a night or two, max.

I was more than happy to leave the coffee shop, and her, behind, but neither of us saw what was coming . . .

Tuesday

I wish I could say I remember him. But I can’t.

Patient.

Generous.

Handsome.

The same stranger who saved me steps in again when I have nowhere to go and no memory of who I am. He’s broody and rigid, but I see a different side of this gorgeous man and start to realize I’m not the only one who needs saving.

Falling for him wasn’t in my plans, but as I search for answers to my past, I realize that I don’t worry about getting my memory back. My fear is losing my life twice.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

Loch and Tuesday’s story was a doozy! Their first meeting was… well, not so great. She was rude, mean, and entitled. But Tuesday’s life literally changed in a flash when she was mugged just minutes after exchanging barbs with Loch in a coffee shop. She fell, hit her head, and woke up not remembering anything about who she was.

Despite the awful first impression, Loch played white knight for Tuesday, caring for her and helping her figure out her life when she had nothing and no one else. Loch came to rescue his damsel in distress, but in many ways, Tuesday saved him as well with her sudden immersion in his life. A workaholic attorney, he learned to laugh and relax with her around, enjoy the simple pleasures, and think about what his personal life looked like in the future for once.

But when they discover who Tuesday really is, will it make their glass bubble burst?

I really enjoyed this story. Most of it is Loch and Tuesday getting to know each other and falling in love. The revelation about her past doesn’t come into play until the last 25% or so — and I confess that my suspicions were dead wrong! I also enjoyed the friendship Tuesday and Lark (Swear On My Life) built, and loved catching up with Lark and Harbor. I look forward to seeing what comes next for the other Wescott siblings!

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: Things We Never Got Over by Lucy Score

Title: Things We Hide from the Light

Series: Knockemout Series Book 2
Author: Lucy Score
Genre: Small Town Contemporary Romance
Release Date: February 21, 2023
Bestselling author Lucy Score returns to Knockemout, Virginia, following fan-favorite Things We Never Got Over with Knox’s brother Nash’s story.
Nash Morgan was always known as the good Morgan brother, with a smile and a wink for everyone. But now, this chief of police is recovering from being shot and his Southern charm has been overshadowed by panic attacks and nightmares. He feels like a broody shell of the man he once was. Nash isn’t about to let anyone in his life know he’s struggling. But his new next-door neighbor, smart and sexy Lina, sees his shadows. As a rule, she’s not a fan of physical contact unless she initiates it, but for some reason Nash’s touch is different. He feels it too. The physical connection between them is incendiary, grounding him and making her wonder if exploring it is worth the risk.
Too bad Lina’s got secrets of her own, and if Nash finds out the real reason she’s in town, he’ll never forgive her. Besides, she doesn’t do relationships. Ever. A hot, short-term fling with a local cop? Absolutely. Sign her up. A relationship with a man who expects her to plant roots? No freaking way. Once she gets what she’s after, she has no intention of sticking around. But Knockemout has a way of getting under people’s skin. And once Nash decides to make Lina his, he’s not about to be dissuaded…even if it means facing the danger that nearly killed him.
Sandizzlereads ✰✰✰✰✰ Review – “Lucy Score’s Things We Hide From The Light, is a book you simply can’t miss!”
Amazon ✰✰✰✰✰ Review – “Highly anticipated sequel to Things We Never Got Over and WOW WOW WOW!!! This book is absolute perfection!”
Amazon ✰✰✰✰✰ Review – “Hard-hitting and fraught with emotion, Nash and Lina’s story was the perfect continuation of Things We Never Got Over.”

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

Nash is dealing with depression and PTSD stemming from a gunshot wound when his brother’s ex-girlfriend moves into the apartment next door. The last thing Lina wants is to get tangled up with her ex’s brother, especially since she’s on a mission… and her mission may conflict with the case police chief Nash is investigating related to his family.

Sparks fly immediately, and Lina and Nash do their best to tamp those down. She doesn’t want a relationship, and he’s a broody, gloomy hero. It’s a great slow burn and the payoff is well worth the wait.

I’ve had Things We Never Got Over on my TBR for a while now, and this will push me to bump it up to the top of my list. Even though TWHFTL is a standalone, I definitely think that having read TWNGO first would have complemented this story and given a broader background. Still, quite enjoyable!

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: Falling For The Rookie by Carina Rose

 Release Date: February 7

People rarely catch me off guard. I’m Collin St. James, after all, starting wide receiver for the Virginia Thunder, and playing football has kept me on my toes. But nothing could have prepared me to mentor our newest teammate, kicker Charlie Nicholson.

I wasn’t caught off guard because I had to take someone under my wing, or because Charlie was easily banging sixty-yard kicks through the uprights. It happened when the rookie’s silver helmet came off and long blonde hair spilled out. Completely baffled, I edged closer and took in the prettiest blue eyes I’d ever seen.

Charlie wasn’t only a complete knockout, she was also my younger sister’s closest friend, and when she smiled at me, I knew right then and there I was in serious trouble.

The last thing I needed was a distraction, but thanks to my gorgeous new teammate—and, to my surprise, my roommate—that was exactly what I got.

Grab Your Copy Here:

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

Charlie had plans to be a physician when she got sidetracked by a brief career as a kicker for a pro football team. She happens to end up on the team that her best friend’s older brother, Collin, plays for and ends up as his roommate. Oh yeah, Charlie has always had a crush on Collin…

Collin isn’t exactly thrilled when he’s asked to mentor the team’s new kicker. And he’s absolutely stunned to find out that the kicker is the first female in the league. The awkwardness between Charlie and Collin is delicious at first, and it evolves into sizzling sexual tension before they eventually start to fall for each other.

When the unexpected happens and Charlie is forced to make a life-changing decision, will she decide that Collin is her future or her dream is still to go to med school? (There’s a lovely full-circle moment with a motivational quote that I adored.)

I loved the concept of this forced proximity, football romance, and I enjoyed the cameos from the other characters in this series. I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: Don’t Let Me Break by Kelsie Rae

Don’t Let Me Break is LIVE!!!

Macklin and I are just friends.

And even that’s a stretch.

He saw me at my most vulnerable, and now the guy’s popping up left and right.

Pretty sure it’s because my friend is trying to set me up with him, but what do I know?

It’s not like I have much experience with guys.

And he’s…well, Macklin’s older, more experienced, and bluntly put?

Way out of my league.

He also has a heart of gold and the personality of a golden retriever, which makes me pricklier than ever.

I don’t have time for boys.

I don’t have time for friends.

But Macklin?

Well, I’m pretty sure I can add stubborn and persistent to his list of personality traits.

He thinks I’ll cave and give him a chance?

Clearly, the man doesn’t know me as well as he thinks he does.

Have you read it yet?

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

Macklin is the ultimate golden retriever book boyfriend! He is so swoony, and he was the perfect, patient guy as he showed Kate (first strictly as friends!) that her epilepsy didn’t define her and the guys who blew her off about it in the past weren’t worth her time or tears.

Everything about this story had me smiling. Well, maybe not the parts about Mack’s estrangement from his teen daughters! But the story is paced well, I felt like I really got to know these two main characters, and fell in love with them as they fell in love with each other.

Well done!

Sunny Shelly’s Review: Rumour Has It by Naaz Spencer

Rumour Has It by Naaz Spencer is now live!

Aiden
I fell in love with my best friend and then broke her heart when we were nineteen.
Tiffany Harrington refuses to have anything to do with me outside of work.
She’s spent years cleaning up my playboy image, but all I want is her.
Tiffy refuses to give me another chance, no matter how much I beg. And I’m not above begging.
But life just threw us a devastating curveball and I’ll be by her side even if she pushes me away.
I’d do anything for that woman because she is my world.
Even if she doesn’t realise it yet.

Tiffany
Aiden Sinclair is a liability, but when he gets too close, I lose all sense.
He’s been my weakness ever since we were kids. But we are the past and I’m only concerned about my future.
I won’t let him shatter my heart a second time.
Or that was the plan.
When Mum is diagnosed with cancer, Aiden’s the person I run to.
The only one who can help me is him.
Behind the playboy is still the man I love, and I don’t know how much longer I can refuse to acknowledge it.
Because time is a precious thing.

Rumour Has It is book 2 in the Seven Deadly Sinclairs series and can be read as a standalone.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

Rumour Has It is a charming second-chance, best-friends romance from a new-to-me author. I quite enjoyed reading this book by Naaz Spencer, and thought she did a lovely job of portraying the hurt and heartbreak between Aiden and Tiffany — as well as the groveling, reconnecting, and falling back in love. This book deals with the sensitive topic of a parent dying of cancer, and I thought that added so much to the story. Her mom’s diagnosis was a turning point for Tiffany in forgiving Aiden. Amid all the angst, there are some very sweet moments, and I enjoyed Tiffany and Aiden’s journey very much. I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: Whispers of You by Catherine Cowles

💙WHISPERS OF YOU IS LIVE💙

Fall for Holt and Wren in their second-chance, forced proximity small town romance from USA Today Bestselling Author, Catherine Cowles!

One night—a single moment—cost me everything.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

Ah, Whispers of You is a fantastic start to a new series! It has all of the bits that I’ve come to love in a Catherine Cowles book!

Wren and Holt were perfection! I adored this second-chance romance, and how these two broken characters found their way back to one another. It’s coming up on the 10th anniversary of the shooting spree that ripped their town apart. While Wren has carried physical and psychological scars from that horrible night, Holt has carried emotional scars on the inside. He’s never forgiven himself for not being there for Wren when she was attacked. But rather than be there for her, Holt left town and joined the military, feeling as if he wasn’t good enough for having disappointed her. But the second he sees Wren again, he knows that he can’t continue to live his life without her.

At first, Wren wants nothing from Holt and struggles to find a way to co-exist with him back in town. But when strange attacks begin again in Cedar Ridge and she becomes a target, Holt makes it his personal mission to be her protector. The man he is at 28 is not the same boy he was at 18, but will Wren be able to forgive him for his past mistakes?

I loved how Andi Arndt and Zachary Webber narrated this story. They captured every nuance of this couple, and brilliantly brought the story to life.

I can’t wait for more from the Lost & Found series!

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: Letting Go at 40 by L.B. Dunbar

Letting Go at 40 by L.B. Dunbar is now live!

She didn’t think it could ever happen again. Love that is. And it definitely shouldn’t be happening with him.

Anna Kulis has lost her husband. Their love was a perfect kind of love; a once in a lifetime experience. She never intended to fall for anyone again. Never expected to have this attraction stirring inside her. And she never thought her emotions would run wild for the one man she shouldn’t be attracted to – her late husband’s best friend.

Mason Becker has a secret. As a renowned ladies’ man, he’s been in love with his best friend’s wife for twenty-five years. After his friend’s untimely death, and a period of grief, Mason finds himself in a compromising position with the one woman he didn’t think he’d ever have. And that night leads to complications – namely, a desire for more.

Letting go can be one of the hardest tasks for the heart.
Opening up to a second chance at love can be even harder.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

I have been waiting for Mason and Anna’s story since the first Lakeside Cottage book and it did not disappoint!

“Ben was one in a million, but you’re a million in one.”

Anna is Ben’s widow, and Mason was his best friend — who has been in love with Anna from Day One. During the year of Ben’s illness, and even after his death, Mason steps up to take care of Anna and her kids, even though it kills him to be so close to her. Meanwhile, Anna was always ambivalent about Mason. She didn’t understand why he was so tight with her husband, and didn’t like the guy much at all. But during the months he lives with her family, she begins to see a different side to Mason and really gets to know the guy as the fiercely loyal friend her husband had loved.

As Mason and Anna both work through their grief, they turn to each other for friendship and support. Sometimes the lines get blurred, and my heart broke for Mason as he wanted so much to really truly be there for Anna when she was at times just using him to ease her pain. When Anna started developing genuine feelings for Mason, she was tormented by guilt that it was too soon after her husband’s death to be moving on — with his best friend of all people.

I loved how even though these characters are both in their 40s, they are somewhat stunted when it comes to dating and relationships. Yes, Anna is a widow, but Ben was pretty much her only boyfriend and she met him when she was a teenager. And Mason has shoved down the pain of being in love with a woman he could never have by indulging in a series of short flings over the years, never making a commitment. So while they dance around each other for a long time before they finally get together, their relationship is full of miscommunication. He thinks he’s showing her with actions but doesn’t say the words. And by not hearing the words, she isn’t sure of his true feelings. I so enjoyed the journey these two went on and how they finally, finally came together.

Letting Go at 40 was a phenomenal story, but an intense one!

Sunny Shelly’s Review: Make A Wish by Helena Hunting

♥ NEW RELEASE ♥

With her signature charm and sense of humor, New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Helena Hunting creates a novel about love, family, and second chances in Make a Wish

Ever have a defining life moment you wish you could do over? Harley Spark has one. The time she almost kissed the widowed father of the toddler she nannied for. It was so bad they moved across the state and she never saw them again.

Fast forward seven years and she’s totally over it. At least she thinks she is. Until Gavin Rhodes and his adorable now nine-year-old daughter, Peyton, reappear at a princess-themed birthday party hosted by Spark House, Harley’s family’s event hotel. Despite trying to avoid the awkwardness of the situation, she can’t help but notice how unbearably sexy he looks in a tutu.  Add to that a spontaneous hives breakout, and it’s clear she’s not even remotely over the mortification of her egregious error all those years ago.

Except Gavin seems oblivious to her inner turmoil. So much so that he suggests they get together for lunch. For Peyton’s sake, of course. It’s the perfect opportunity to heal old wounds. Or it could just reopen them. This is one of those times Harley wishes she could see the future…

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

Make A Wish is the third and final book in the Spark House series, and I loved the journey that youngest sister Harley went through with Gavin, the hot widowed dad she used to nanny for. This book had a heavier feel to it than the others did, simply because Gavin was kind of stuck in the past as far as grieving his late wife Marcie (who died the day their daughter Peyton was born) and his feelings about making a future with Harley.

Helena Hunting infused this book with her signature charm and wit, and gracefully handled how Gavin came to terms with moving past the love he lost. I also felt that the issues Gavin had with his mother-in-law and her grief were handled wonderfully. Sure, Karen was mean and snippy, but once they really got into things, it was clear that she was consumed by grief herself. And Payton is a wonderful little girl and brought so much to the story.

I went back and forth between listening to this book on audio and reading it, and I adored how Jason Clarke and Stella Bloom brought these characters to life.

Make A Wish is a wonderful story about finding love after loss, and I think it was my favorite of the bunch. And I loved all three books! And the bonus epilogue was a fantastic wrap-up for this series!

I received a complimentary copy from St. Martin’s Press via NetGalley and voluntarily left a review.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: Keep This Promise by Corinne Michaels

I’m about to lose everything.

My home. My name. My future.

My husband was involved in something that could cost us our lives, and on his deathbed, he demands my daughter and I flee Britain.

I had no idea he found her biological father, Holden James, in Rose Canyon, and that’s where we’d start over.

The moment we see each other, feelings I’d long forgotten rush over me. Holden doesn’t hesitate to care for us. We find ourselves reaching for each other, even when we should hold back. His smile warms me, his arms protect me, and against my better judgment, I fall for him. All the possibilities of a future are threatened by a looming past.

I’m being hunted, and it’s just a matter of time before someone finds me guilty of crimes I didn’t commit. Whatever trouble my husband was involved in won’t evade me forever.

I am trying to keep my promise and stay for Holden, but I don’t know how long it’ll be before we have to run.

My name was Sophie Pearson, but I vanished, just like my hope to ever find love again.

I’d kind of been hoping that Holden and Addie would end up together before she left Rose Canyon, but I think that Sophie was the perfect match for him!

When Sophie and Eden turn up on his doorstep, Holden is shocked; but immediately KNOWS that Eden is his daughter. He goes above and beyond to not only make their lives comfortable in Rose Canyon, but to protect them from the murky past of Sophie’s shady late husband, Theo.

I loved the crossover of characters on Sophie’s protection detail — especially Zach from Melanie Harlow’s latest book, Tempt!!

Keep This Promise was full of intrigue as the suspense story that started in the first book continued to play out — and eventually was wrapped up. Nice twist, Corinne! Didn’t expect that ending!

Sunny Shelly’s Review: How to Lose at Love, by Sara Ney

Release Date: January 19

I needed a good girl to save my bad reputation.
With too much on my plate, the very last thing on my mind was a relationship—the football draft was looming and dating got in the way. I never understood why my teammates bothered with girlfriends. None of us had the time.
When my sports agent suggested that being seen in public with a respectable girl would begoodfor mybadreputation, I couldn’t think of a single person to help me out. The only girls I knew weren’t wifey material, and the ones who were? Might catch feelings.
Except Ryann Winters.
Responsible. Sarcastic. Smart. Ryann was perfect but there wasoneclincher: she was my teammates ex-girlfriend and I had recently beenpaidby him to dump her.
Not the best start to a fake relationship…

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

Duke’s brothers (The Secret Roommate) have their own series! Yay! I loved that rowdy bunch when Duke and Posey helped them move into their house at college, and now we get to spend a whole series there and watch the three younger Colter brothers fall in love! First up is Dallas…

Man, Dallas and Ryann really get off on the wrong foot when he’s paid by her boyfriend, one of his teammates, to dump her. That sets up a hilarious hate-to-love situation when she reluctantly agrees to be his fake girlfriend to rehab his reputation. (That idea is Elias Cohen’s, from The Makeout Artist.)

The witty banter between Dallas and Ryann reminded me so much of how Duke and Posey started out. There are some hilarious barbs exchanged between them, and Ryann doesn’t take his crap. That makes this book a whole lot of fun. It’s flirty and sexy, and I love a good story when a guy who has zero desire for a relationship falls hard and fast. I appreciated how Ryann didn’t drag it out when she realized she had feelings for Dallas, and they had an honest conversation about becoming official.

How to Lose at Love is a charming, low-angst college sports romance that I devoured in a day, and I can’t wait to see what comes next for the other Colter brothers!
