Funny, funny, funny! The Last Guy is filled with so many laugh-out-loud moments! It is a smart and sexy office romance with two strong main characters and is a perfect book to read on the beach!

Rebecca is a strong, independent newscaster with the weekend anchor job in her sights. She’s paid her dues and is determined to nab the chair — but her boss thinks she’s aging, could stand to lose a few pounds, and doesn’t think Rebecca is the right fit. With her boss seemingly out to fire her, Rebecca knows she needs to walk a very straight line when it comes to her job… which is why she keeps turning down hotshot former NFL hero-turned-sportscaster Cade. Workplace romances are off-limits in Rebecca’s book. But everything changes after they cross paths in a place they least expect to see the other, and lots of alcohol is involved.

IMM and TL really wrote some great characters here. Not just Rebecca and Cade, but Chass and Trent were awesome sidekicks! I appreciate how dedicated Rebecca is to her job, and Cade really goes the distance to prove that he’s not just after a one night stand with her. The reader is privy to alot of little intimate moments between the two, and that goes a long way IMO when it comes to investing in a couple and wanting to see them get their HEA.

You never know what path life is going to put you on, and the last guy you should ever get involved with just may be the last guy you will ever get involved with!

I had high hopes for Sawyer’s story — by the end of Fireflies, I REALLY was hung up on the mysterious relationship between him and Ashton. So I did not expect that Shelly would be the heroine in Changing Hearts, and as a result, I was actually a little disappointed.

I think I liked the triangle (is it a triangle, or isn’t it?) between the three of them more than I liked Sawyer and Shelly together.

Laine does a great job, however, with the development of the two guys, and filling in their backstory. There is so much more to Sawyer than the arrogant front he puts forward, especially when it comes to his friendship with Ashton. They are both so fiercely loyal to one another.

While it was nice seeing glimpses of Chance and Brie, I found myself struggling to finish by the end, and felt that story points were kind of glossed over. Hopefully, Ashton’s book will be next and some of those story holes will be filled in.

I’ve really enjoyed this series of interconnected billionaire standalones, and Ruthless Kiss is another hot one! I had some reservations going into this book however because the previous one in this series, Shameless Kiss, was also a relationship pact. But Amelia Wilde did a great job in making Ruthless very different.

Jasper is a HOT, but cocky, real estate developer with a rep for being… well, Ruthless. He meets his match in up and coming fashion designer Isabella, who wants to take him down a few pegs when Jasper buys her mother’s building and the tenants are forced to leave. They strike an agreement where Isabella submits herself to Jasper for a month in exchange for purchasing the building herself. But of course, that isn’t the way things play out, because they both develop feelings for one another only to later feel betrayed by the other.

There are a few plot holes that left some questions in my mind, but nothing that distracted from the story. The main characters are complex and intriguing, and the supporting players do their supporting job rather than take over the story. And there are a few fun appearances by Dominic and Vivienne! Overall, a great, sexy story!

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Be-My-Person, Today-Is-My-Favorite-Day Stars

 

Wow. Just, wow. Everything and anything I want to say about this book would be a spoiler. Going into this completely blind is the way to go! The description and cover are a bit misleading because this was NOT a happy-go-lucky story about a girl looking for love. Well, of course, Parker is doing exactly that, but her journey is twisted, passionate, heartbreaking, wonderful and inspired.

This story is so much deeper than I anticipated. I laughed, I sobbed, I smiled, I got teared up… So many emotions! This story is all about everything happening for a reason (even if you don’t understand what that reason is), people coming into our lives for a specific reason, forgiving yourself and those who have done you wrong or you did wrong, and finding your sunshine and happiness in a place you were never expecting to find it.

“Today is my favorite day.”

Swoon. Just do yourself a favor and read this book. Stop reading reviews because you will find something to spoil the story, and that would just be a shame.
