I am a sucker for second-chance romances and When We Touch had everything I look for. Ember and Jack are totally relatable as characters, the reason for their split wasn’t hokey or forced, their reunion felt organic, and The Obstacle that threatens to tear them apart had a few twists that kept me wanting to read just one more chapter. Throw in an adorable little girl and a man who doesn’t mind being a father to another man’s child — despite what Ember’s mother tells her! — and When We Touch melted my heart.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 3 Stars

I’m a little torn over how I felt about this book. I love a damaged hero, and Logan is so, so damaged. He’s brooding and mourning, consumed by guilt over his wife’s death. Then there’s bubbly, Hannah, a recent college grad, who he meets out one night and they strike up a friendship that evolves into more when they become co-workers. Even though Logan is still in a dark hole and waffles A LOT in his feelings for Hannah and whether or not they should even get involved, she becomes the light in his dark world.

The premise of Breathing You In was great. As he breathes in her life, her joy, her love, Logan begins to heal. But he gives Hannah emotional whiplash so much and acts like such a Grade A ass at times, I just wanted to shake some sense into her. And even despite the plot twist, Hannah and Logan’s romance just fell a little flat for me — I was more interested at times to get more of Eden and Lincoln’s story! And the final few chapters felt somewhat rushed — almost like it was thrown together just to get the couple to the HEA. But by that time, I thought that they needed couples’ therapy as much as he needed his own shrink sessions!

Overall, Breathing You In was a decent read; I just didn’t devour it and LOVE it the way I anticipated I would based on the blurb. I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

She’s always running her fingers through her dirty blonde hair. The simple
motion sends the sweet smell of lavender and something else my way. It’s faint,
but I know it’s her. It’s something sweet and soothing. If I think about her,
even if I see her across the lunch room or in the school parking lot, I swear I
can smell that scent. 
I like sitting behind her in geography. I can watch the cute little things she
does and it looks like I’m actually paying attention. 
This is the only class I haven’t gotten kicked out of this year. The stupid shit
doesn’t bother me as much when I can watch her. Even if she never looks at me
twice. 
The bell rings and the sound rips my eyes away from her and towards the
classroom door as a few more students file through. Adam Waynes is the last in
and his chair screeches across the floor as he crashes into his seat. He’s loud
as fuck and gets all the attention. At the thought, I look to her, to Harlow
May expecting her to be watching the spectacle that would usually piss me off,
but instead those gorgeous blue eyes are on me. She’s quick to look away, again
her fingers flying to her hair and twirling her locks nervously as a bright
pink creeps into her cheeks.
