With the perfect mix of angst, emotional romance, and romantic comedy, the Palm South University series is your next guilty addiction.

About the Author:

Kandi Steiner is a bestselling author and whiskey connoisseur living in Tampa, FL. Best known for writing “emotional rollercoaster” stories, she loves bringing flawed characters to life and writing about real, raw romance — in all its forms. No two Kandi Steiner books are the same, and if you’re a lover of angsty, emotional, and inspirational reads, she’s your gal.

An alumna of the University of Central Florida, Kandi graduated with a double major in Creative Writing and Advertising/PR with a minor in Women’s Studies. She started writing back in the 4th grade after reading the first Harry Potter installment. In 6th grade, she wrote and edited her own newspaper and distributed to her classmates. Eventually, the principal caught on and the newspaper was quickly halted, though Kandi tried fighting for her “freedom of press.” She took particular interest in writing romance after college, as she has always been a diehard hopeless romantic, and likes to highlight all the challenges of love as well as the triumphs.

When Kandi isn’t writing, you can find her reading books of all kinds, talking with her extremely vocal cat, and spending time with her friends and family. She enjoys live music, traveling, anything heavy in carbs, beach days, movie marathons, craft beer and sweet wine — not necessarily in that order.

Correction.

She needs a place to hide …

What begins as an innocent, well intentioned arrangement, blossoms into a passionate entanglement neither one of them saw coming.

It all feels right. His tight-knit group of friends think the world of her. And he can’t imagine going the rest of his life without Edie by his side.

Hunter

“Hunter, you’re fired.”
I look up from my bunk that I’ve just made with military precision after my last twenty-four-hour shift for the week. “Uh, sir?”
Chief Sullivan stands tall and irritated on the threshold of the room with his hands behind his back. “You have failed to show proof of a Class A license, so I have to fire you. I’ve been telling you for weeks to get this done by today. Time’s up.”
Shit. I was planning on taking care of that three days ago, but I was busy hiding the fact that I’m going to the academy to become a full-time firefighter from my family. “I was going to take care of that today, sir.”
His brows shoot up, and his expression is doubtful. “You have until five o’clock tonight. Have fun at the DMV on a Saturday, son. I don’t envy you.”
I don’t envy me either. “Thank you, sir. I’ll make sure you have it before five.”
“You do that, or you really will be fired.”
I’m a volunteer firefighter. Technically, he can’t fire me, but hopefully, that will soon change—being a full-time firefighter, not being fired.
He turns to leave and pauses on his way out. “Everything all right with your family?” he asks.
No, everything is not all right with my family. They’re pissed they spent thousands of dollars sending me to Westview University for four years only to watch me throw it all away to play hero, as they say. Chief knows my family is less than thrilled about my career choice, and he’s always been supportive.
“They still feel the same way. Nothing’s going to make them budge, though. I’m not going to worry about it.”
He grunts in agreement and leaves me alone. There’s not much else to say.
I hadn’t planned on spending the day at the DMV. I was going to take a run on the beach, work out, and place an ad for a roommate. Dad refuses to help with the rent now that I’m not going on to law school as planned.
As he planned, not me. I never wanted to go to college in the first place. I’ve wanted to be a firefighter since I was ten years old when I rescued a kitten from a burning garage five houses down from ours on Grand Avenue.
I saw smoke coming from the Grady’s garage and heard Cleo’s meows. Like an idiot, I went inside and crawled around on my hands and knees to find her. Mrs. Grady was a nice lady, and I knew how much she loved that cat. I couldn’t let it die.
When I emerged from the garage, Cleo under my arm coughing and sputtering, gasping for air, I knew this is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. Even after spending the night in the hospital for smoke inhalation, I wouldn’t shut up about being a firefighter.
My dad finally put his foot down a year later and told me under no circumstances was a Forrest man going to work a blue-collar job. I didn’t know what that meant other than I wasn’t allowed to talk about being a fireman anymore. Dad said I was going to be a lawyer like the rest of the family. Being a lawyer looked boring dressing in a suit, carrying a briefcase, working behind a desk on the computer, and spending time in stuffy old courthouses. No, that isn’t what I wanted to do—never was, never will be.
I step outside into the sunlight and shield my eyes. Another perfect day in California. Too bad I have to spend it inside waiting for a special license that says I can keep driving the huge rigs I’ve been driving for almost four years already. What a waste of time.

I love summer, the smell of clean babies, lilacs and swimming. I’m a Midwestern mother of five, Mimi of two and owner of three fur babies.

I spend my weekdays writing full time and raising my family.

I write about intelligent women and the stubborn men who love them.
I write about turmoil and conflict. I write about the most complex, convoluted emotion we as humans experience.

I write about love.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: Downbeat, by Jodie Larson

unnamed (1).jpg
Title: Downbeat
Series: Lightning Strikes #4

Author: Jodie Larson

Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: July 26, 2018

Blurb
Downbeat |n|: The first beat in a measure, often the strongest. Fame,
fortune, traveling to different cities across the country…I’m living the dream.
As the drummer for the Lightning Strikes, it’s my job to hook you in and keep
you coming back for more. It’s my craft, my calling, what I’m a master at.

Even with all that, I’m still just a normal guy who wants to eat at food
trucks and lounge on the couch, playing video games until I can’t see straight.
Everything was perfect.

At least I thought it was, until a blonde bombshell walked into my life
and made me question everything I thought I knew. I want her. I need her. Only,
she’s afraid of the spotlight, afraid of what it’ll do to her and the ones she
loves. The wall around her heart is keeping me out, but I know before long I
will break down her barriers. She needs to know that there is more to us than
what she sees, that this chemistry between us is our downbeat to forever. All
the guys in the band have their happily ever after. Maybe it’s time for
mine.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

I wasn’t sure what to expect from Paxton’s story, because I didn’t feel like I got to know him at all in the previous books in this series. As Breck’s roommate, he came across like kind of a video-game obsessed slacker. So I was pleasantly surprised to get inside of Pax’s head in Downbeat. (And as the drummer for Lightening Strikes, this is the perfect title!)

Pax is feeling like the odd man out, having seen the rest of his bandmates pair off and find happiness as part of a couple. He’s lonely, and none of his relationships have panned out for whatever reason. Whereas the other guys are all with women who they knew before they found fame, Pax always wonders if the women he meets are just after his celebrity. Until he meets barista Kylie, who has absolutely no clue who he is.

As a single mom, Kylie has plenty of walls up, mostly to protect her young son, and she makes her cute customer work for her attention. Pax sets out to get to know Kylie, but knows that time is against him before she discovers who he really is. And after a perfect first date and first kiss, Kylie finds out from someone else.

Kylie is understandably that Pax lied to her, but she at least realizes that she wasn’t forthcoming about the fact that she has a 5 year old, either. They agree to explore what is developing between them, and once Pax meets Jayce, it was all over. Kylie was done for.

I appreciated that there was no major drama between these two. The story is exceptionally sweet, and while Kylie’s insecurities over Jayce’s father flare up every now and then, Pax really does prove just how much he wants her and her son to be his forever. This couple felt so genuine and their feelings for one another jumped off the page. I adored this book, and am sad to see the Lightening Strikes series come to an end.

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

He slides his hand into mine as we chase after Jayce through the arcade, watching him bounce from game to game. It doesn’t bother him that he doesn’t know how to play or whether he’s heard of it. If it’s available, he wants it.

“Anything you want to do?” Pax looks over, still holding my hand with no intention of letting go. A million little butterflies take off in my stomach. Being with Pax is so natural, it doesn’t even phase me anymore when he does things like this, acting like two people who have known each other for years rather than weeks.

Looking over, I see a race car game that opened up. Way back when, I used to be good at these.
“Race you,” I say, dropping his hand and taking off like I’m one of the kids. Pax laughs behind me, as does Jayce, though neither are moving fast.
“I’ll help you,” Jayce says, acting like my own cheering section.
With Pax in the seat next to me, it’s hard to focus on the screen. I turn the wheel to choose my car, finally selecting one that had a good ratio of speed and acceleration.
“Ready?” the computer voice says. A digital, scantily-clad woman appears on the screen between our two cars with a flag in hand and the beach behind her.
“Go!”
I stomp on the gas pedal and weave around pedestrians and other cars, trying to catch up to Pax who flew off the starting line like a pro. Damn, I may be rusty at this.
Jayce’s directions aren’t helping as I hit the wall for the third time, dropping all the way to last place. Why can’t this be like Mario Cart? I could really use a blue tortoiseshell right about now.
Needless to say, I didn’t win. Pax leans over, cracking his knuckles as he stretches his arms out in front of him. “I thought this was going to be a challenge.”
That’s it. There’s gotta be something I can beat him at.
I look around, desperate to find something that will give me hope.
Nothing. I suck at video games, always have, always will. Instead, I opt for one of the non-video games in the entire place.
“There,” I say, pointing to the basketball hoops.
“Really?” He looks me up and down. “You don’t seem like you have the height.”
I shove at his shoulder. “It’s not like I’m going against Shaq.” He’s a basketball player, right?
Pax laughs and leads the three of us to the hoops.
“Can I try?” Jayce asks.
I hand him one of the balls. “I don’t think you’re tall enough but go ahead and try.”
To my surprise, Pax lifts him off the floor, holding him high enough to take a shot. “Now he is.”
The ball goes in with ease, leaving the two of them whooping and hollering, slapping each other’s hands, finally ending in a fist bump. He’s turning my own son against me.
“Okay, Mama, your turn.”
I dribble the ball against the carpet – which is useless because it doesn’t bounce – and raise my arms to take a shot. The ball flies over the safety net, hits the front of the rim and straight down.
Pax holds up Jayce again, repeating the same motions as before. With each shot, mine fall short while theirs sinks in.
I give up.
When the buzzer sounds, I acknowledge my defeat. “That’s not fair. There’s two of you.”
Jayce hugs my waist. “It’s okay, Mama. We’ll teach you how to play.”
Pax snorts and turns away. I smile down at my son and ruffle his hair.
“Thanks, buddy.” Pulling out my phone, I glance at the time. “It’s getting late and you need to take a bath.”
A collective whine from the two of them brings a smile to my face. “Do we have to?”
I nod. “Yes. Time to go home.”
We walk to my car, letting Jayce crawl in first so I can secure his seat belt. Pax holds out his arm, wrapping it around my waist to stop my progress around the car.
“You know, I’m kinda dirty too. Wanna take a bath with me?”
Everything clenches south of my navel at the thought of being naked with him. I’m not sure if we’re ready to take that leap yet.
“We’ve had enough firsts for today. How about we save that one for later?”
He smiles, the corners of his eyes crinkling in the corners. “Can’t blame a guy for trying.” Leaning down, Pax kisses my lips, softly, tenderly, not taking it further than necessary in public and in case prying little eyes spot us.
“Did you drive to the beach? I suppose you need your bike.”
Pax shakes his head. “Nah, I walked. I can call an Uber.”
“Get in the car,” I say with authority. It’s not often I use my mom-voice, but it’s ridiculous that he even suggested getting a ride from someone else.
Once we’re all situated, I head down the road, following Pax’s directions to his place. Since I was passed out the first time I went there, and then too focused on the man between my legs the second time, I didn’t remember where it was. It doesn’t shock me that he’s down the street from Grounded. No wonder why he’s always there.
Pax opens Jayce’s door and gives him a high five. “See you later, bud.”
“Bye, Pax. Come play with me soon, okay?”
With a final fist bump, he blows it up as they both laugh. “You got it.”
I step out of the car and stand by the door. Pax traps me with his arms, caging me in while leaning into me.
“When can I see you again?”
I chew on my bottom lip. He frees it with his thumb, only to find it trapped again because I can’t stop fidgeting with him this close.
“My next day off is on Saturday. Weekends are better for me.”
He pushes a lock of hair away from my face, running the finger down my cheek until he’s cupping my jaw, tilting my head up to stare directly into his bright, hazel eyes.
“Then weekends it is. I want them all. Yours and Jayce’s. I had a lot of fun today. More fun than I’ve had in a while.” He kisses the tip of my nose. “But don’t think you’re off the hook during the week. I expect excellent customer service when I stop in for my coffee.”
I laugh, clinging to his shirt while resting my forehead against his shoulder. Every muscle in my body relaxes as he holds me in his arms. This feels more natural than anything else I’ve ever experienced. It pains me to walk away and leave him here.
“No fake smiles. Only the real ones for you.”

The first time I met Ian Kemp in the sparkling blue waters of St. Thomas, I was six years old and we shared a summer beneath the stars.
The second time I met Ian Kemp, he was a shell of the boy I once knew. Turbulent and infuriating, he refused my friendship at every turn. Like me, he was a casualty of life’s cruelty, but we were planets apart.
We’d both sought refuge on the island, hoping to find our anchor. Instead, we found each other and managed to reclaim our stars…until we both got swept away.

Thwack.
Thwack.
Thwack.

“Fack!” It was another one of the hundreds of curses that erupted from the Kemp kitchen.

With wide eyes, I watched the wood fly across the porch and onto the sand and heard another loud crash as I stalked the house next door with my phone pressed to my ear.

“So how is my son?” His mother asked as I saw more of Rowan Kemp’s kitchen fly over the railing, off the porch, and into the sand. “Is he adjusting well?”

“Damnit! Oh, fack your motha,” Ian’s voice rang out in frustration. Giggling, I covered the mouthpiece of the phone as another cabinet door hit the sand. He’d been at it for a few hours. It started with an explosive phone call that I managed to avoid mostly due to my taking cover in the shower and ended with a bang.“He… is. It looks like he’s remodeling the kitchen.”

In a flash, Ian stood on the porch only in shorts, his chest heaving, a bottle of the red in his hand. He studied the wood in the sand before he glanced at my house. I ducked out of his line of sight and answered her before more banging started. “He’s fine.”

“Oh, that’s wonderful news. Maybe you could put him on the phone?”

More growling ensued and then a clear, “Damn you! EISH!”

“Well, at the moment, I think it would be impossible, he’s in the midst of demolition.”

I cringed at the ripping sound and poked my head out of my screen door just as he hurled more wood over the railing.

“You know he’s always been so good at things like that. He built his father a beautiful bookshelf for his study.”

“That’s wonderful,” I said, as Ian unloaded an entire can of lighter fluid on the discarded wood. I raced around the bottom floor of my house and collected every fire extinguisher I had before I sat them next to my front door. Seconds later I heard the whoosh of the wood go up in flames. The rising inferno seemed to fuel him as he added more of his mother’s kitchen to it piece by piece.

Rowan went on, speaking of her pride and joy. “From boy scouts all the way through college, my boy excelled at everything he did. Honor student, swimming, tennis. I had to beat the women away with a stick.”

Ian chose that moment to snap another cabinet door in half over his knee and used his empty wine bottle to bat it into the burning pile.

“You don’t say.”

“Oh, yes, he was such a ladies’ man before he met Tara, his ex-wife.”

Only mildly prepared, I walked out onto my porch at the same time Ian returned to it. He had several photo books in his hand. Rowan whispered in my ear as if he could hear her. “I was never really that fond of her, she seemed a little cold compared to his warmth.”

Ian pulled pictures from the books and began to burn them one by one. Something in my chest split as he walked around Rowan Kemp’s burning kitchen cabinets, tossing away what I was sure were irreplaceable pictures.

He had lost his shit. It was, without a doubt, Ian’s doomsday.

“Don’t!” I screamed from where I stood.

Ian ignored me as he tossed an entire book into the fire before shaking another so that the pictures fed the flames.

“Koti? What is it?” Rowan said anxiously on the phone.

“Oh nothing, I was just…”

“Is everything okay?”

“Oh, fine,” I said, as I paced the porch watching her son destroy his mother’s memories. He must have found the pictures in the linen closet. The Kemps had very few of their own things in the house.

“Rowan, I’m going to ask him if he needs any help.”

“Okay,” she said hesitantly. “But please ask him to ring me.”

“Will do.” I was already running toward the small bonfire just as Ian tossed another picture into it.

“What are you doing!?”

“Privacy,” he said through thick lips. “That’s all I asked for.”

“Kind of hard to ignore you, Ian. Since you’ve gone all Tom Hanks Castaway—me man, me make fire!” I reached for the picture in his hand as he tossed it in. I watched it burn. It was a shot of a woman in her wedding dress who I assumed was Tara. She looked beautiful as she smiled at her groom. I was only able to admire Ian in a well-fitted tux for seconds before the fire engulfed the photo.

Jesus, what could have happened?

“Ian, if you want to talk about it…”

He picked up another book and took a few pictures out shoving them into his pocket before he tossed it into the pile.

“Leave.”

“Please stop. You don’t understand what you’re doing.”

Blazing eyes scoured me before he looked back at the fire. “I know exactly what the fuck I’m doing.”

Sweat pooled on his forehead. He was covered in splintered wood. Ian Kemp had cracked, and he wasn’t coming back until he was ready.

Way too far into his headspace, he ignored me standing next to him.

I walked back to my house and watched him dismantle years of memories as he stared at the fire until it went out.

And then the house next to mine went completely quiet.

A self-proclaimed reader enthusiast, Kristy started her writing journey back in 2009, reading and writing when her daughter was napping. Establishing her place in Corporate America (because something had to pay the bills), writing became her dirty, late-night secret.

After eight long years, she released her debut novel, Commander in Briefs. It was a long road, but she can honestly say, the road less traveled had the most beautiful sights.

The only thing Kristy Marie loves as much as reading and writing is sports! Especially those that require muscles and a nice ass. Her favorite is, and always will be, baseball. She’s such a fan, that she even married her small town’s high school’s centerfielder where they still live with their three badass kids.

Commander in Briefs is her first series but definitely not her last.

Synopsis

I got out of the Marine Corps to give my daughter a better life. I’m a strong and capable single dad. I got this, right? Not so much.

The one thing my daughter wants is the hardest to find—a mom. It’s not like they’re selling hot intelligent women at Walmart these days, and with the amount of baggage I’m carrying around, I might be out of luck.

Yeah, so.

We moved from Oahu to Maui. I needed a job, a place to live, and to get us settled. I thought it would be simple, but let’s just say . . . mistakes have been made.

· Mistake #1: I took the first job I was offered. (Should’ve probably asked a couple more questions about the required uniform.)
· Mistake #2: I flirted with Kai, the first attractive woman who crossed my path. (So far out of my league she might as well be a Hawaiian princess.)
· Mistake #3: I fell head over heels for that woman. (See Mistake #2.)

Now I’m standing here showing my butt—no, literally. It’s the required uniform at Man Buns, the restaurant I’m working at. (See Mistake #1).

In any case, I can tell you one thing—it’s damn near impossible to convince the woman I can’t live without to take me seriously when I’m serving up burgers, half-naked, and women are constantly ogling my assets.

I’ve gotta try, though. Because Kai is the woman for me, and she’s perfect with Aya. I’ve just gotta get these man buns in gear and figure out how to win her over.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

The blurb for Man Buns hooked me in and the story kept me! This was a highly entertaining romance, light and easy reading, with a sassy, fiery heroine, a hot single dad hero and an adorable 7 year old who is a real scene-stealer!

The relationship between Kai and Denver unfolds at at lovely pace; I loved that he is carrying around baggage of adjusting to civilian life plus the trials is being a single dad. And Kai has put her own happiness on hold for so long in order to raise her sister. Watching the two of them figure out how to “date” was absolutely endearing.

Admittedly, I hadn’t liked Man Hands as much as Servant and Flu, but I feel like Shari Ryan gave me everything I wanted again in Man Buns.

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Dirty Little Desires
Cassie Cross
(Dirty Little Series, #3)
Publication date: July 25th 2018
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance

Oliver Warren is a man who seems to have everything. He’s rich, he’s handsome, and he owns of some of the hottest properties in the country. The only thing missing in his otherwise perfect life is the woman he’s been in love with for as long as he can remember, Felicity Williams. She just so happens to also be his best friend’s sister.

Felicity co-runs a successful lifestyle website with her sister-in-law, and she has a line of accessories in the works. Most of her dreams are well within her reach, except for one that she’s been keeping a secret, and she needs Oliver’s help to make it come true.

Felicity hatches a plan to attend a benefit that’s being held at one of Oliver’s properties, and brings Oliver as her date. After a long weekend of ups and downs, Felicity starts wondering if the feelings she has for Oliver aren’t as unrequited as she always thought they were.

When they get home, will love be enough to get them through the fallout of giving in to their dirty little desires?

Dirty Little Desires is a standalone story, no cliffhangers, and is the third and final book in the Dirty Little Series.

EXCERPT:

I push myself out of the water, contemplating another jump before dinner’s ready.

“Thinking of going again?” Oliver asks, handing me a towel. “I know you were scared.”

I shrug it off. “I just wanted to see what it was like.”

He grins. “I know. I admire that about you.”

“Which part? My recklessness where my own safety is concerned, or my swanlike grace while flying through the air?”

He laughs. “That you aren’t scared of doing things. That when there’s something you want, you go out and get it.”

He gives me a long, intense look that makes a ribbon of heat curl around my belly.

Oliver’s a gazillionaire who’s never met a person he couldn’t finesse, never come across a deal he couldn’t close. If there’s someone who has issues getting what they want, it certainly isn’t him.

“Oliver, what—”

“Want to go for a walk with me later? There’s something I want to show you,” he says, cutting me off before I can ask him what he meant just a second ago.

My stupid heart skips a beat when he asks. “Yeah,” I reply a little too quickly, like a lovesick moron.

He perks up. “Yeah?”

I smile. “Definitely.”

Author Bio:

Cassie Cross is a Maryland native and a romantic at heart, who lives outside of Baltimore with her two dogs and a closet full of shoes. Cassie’s fondness for swoon-worthy men and strong women are the inspiration for most of her stories, and when she’s not busy writing a book, you’ll probably find her eating takeout and indulging in her love of 80′s sitcoms.

Cover Reveal: Love Online, by Penelope Ward

fullsizeoutput_68

  A Standalone Contemporary Romance Novel

By: NY Times, USA Today, and #1 Wall Street Journal Best Selling Author, Penelope Ward

RELEASE DATE: Monday, August 27, 2018

Synopsis:

From New York Times bestselling author Penelope Ward, comes a new, sexy STANDALONE novel.

We met in the least likely of places. It started out innocently enough. I was “ScreenGod” and she was “Montana,” but of course, those weren’t our actual names, just the virtual cloaks we hid behind.

Logging in at night and talking to her was my escape—my sanctuary.

Her real name was Eden, I’d soon come to find out.

From the first time we connected online, I found myself transfixed.

She was an addiction.

At first, we knew nothing about each other’s real identities…and she was adamant that we keep things that way. Anonymity had no effect on our unstoppable chemistry, though. If anything, it allowed us to open up even more in ways we may not have otherwise.

Eden was funny, intelligent, gorgeous—everything I’d ever wanted in a woman.

But I couldn’t really have her.

I had accepted things would have to stay the way they were—until the day I found a clue that led me straight to her.

So I took a chance.

And that was when our love story really began.

Release Blitz: False Perceptions, by Michelle Heard

Available via Kindle Unlimited

Conspiracies and lies lead to a secret that was never supposed to be uncovered.

Six months ago we rescued Emilie Swanson, the daughter of retired Navy Admiral George Swanson – now a senator running for the presidency.

Having just returned from a harrowing operation gone wrong, I accept an undercover mission. With orders to protect Emilie from any further threats, everything should be uncomplicated. Expecting a socialite, I’m surprised when I get to know the spirited woman.

But the Navy SEAL motto is true. The only easy day was yesterday.

To save her I have to take on a powerful political player who will do anything to further his career. Things aren’t what they seem, and the threat to Emilie’s life lies much closer to home than we thought.

Time is running out as we’re both caught in a web of false perceptions.
