Blurb
She was too young. He was too famous.

Shaelyn Monroe was only seventeen when she met larger-than-life action star, Garrett Riordan.

He thought she was a breath of fresh air.
She thought he was out of her league.

Their attraction was something neither could ignore.
They shouldn’t have worked…
But somehow, they did.

Everything was perfect.
Until it wasn’t.

Could their love survive what happened on the way down- or had it always been too good to be true?

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

Not a standalone, as this is the first if a duet, and deals with a sensitive subject. I wish there had been a warning, because it’s a trigger for me. That aside, I really enjoyed this story. Shaelyn and Garrett didn’t work on paper, but there was such a sweet tenderness to their relationship. She’s 17 when they meet and he’s 26; he is a perfect gentleman until the night she turns 18.

Things get messy for Shae, and Garrett rides to her rescue like a knight in shining armor. Things are perfect between them… until they’re not. When she is ready to give up on them, can he convince her that they are indestructible?

I’m curious about the years this story takes place in: 1998-2001. I wonder if it’s just set in the past, or if the sequel picks up years later, in present day. January can’t come fast enough!

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Now Live: Muffin Top, by Avery Flynn

Muffin Top RB Banner.jpg

“Smart, sassy, and utterly delightful! Get ready to fall head-over-heels in love with Lucy, one of the wittiest and most inspiring heroines I’ve ever met!”
– Annika Martin New York Times bestselling author

Muffin Top, a hot romantic comedy from USA Today bestselling author Avery Flynn is available now!

Muffin Top 1600px.jpg

The only thing about me that’s a size zero is the filter on my mouth. I’ve got a big personality, a big rack, and a big number on the scale. And I’m perfectly fine with that.

But when some random guy suggests I might not be eating alone if I’d ordered a salad instead of a hamburger I’m shocked silent, which is a feat, trust me.

That brings us to one sexy fireman named Frankie Hartigan. He’s hot. He’s funny… And he’s just apologized for being late for our “date” then glared at the fat-shaming jerk. Next thing I know, he’s sitting down and ordering himself dinner.

I have no problem telling him I don’t need a pity date . . . unless of course it’s to my high school reunion next week. Oops where did that last bit come from? And what do I do now that he’s said yes?!

Because this is no make-over story, and I think Frankie is using me for something. I just have to figure out what…

About Avery

2W4A0911.jpeg

USA Today bestselling romance author Avery Flynn has three slightly-wild children, loves a hockey-addicted husband and is desperately hoping someone invents the coffee IV drip.
She fell in love with romance while reading Johanna Lindsey’s Mallory books. It wasn’t long before Avery had read through all the romance offerings at her local library. Needing a romance fix, she turned to Harlequin’s four books a month home delivery service to ease the withdrawal symptoms. That worked for a short time, but it wasn’t long before the local book stores’ staffs knew her by name.
Avery was a reader before she was a writer and hopes to always be both. She loves to write about smartass alpha heroes who are as good with a quip as they are with their *ahem* other God-given talents. Her heroines are feisty, fierce and fantastic. Brainy and brave, these ladies know how to stand on their own two feet and knock the bad guys off theirs.

Release Blitz: P.S. I Dare You, by Winter Renshaw

Dear Ms. Keane,

Before this ridiculous little arrangement commences, I’d like to make myself indubitably clear: I know who you are, I know that my father hired you, I know why my father hired you, and lastly, your services aren’t needed.

In fact, I want no part of my father’s billion-dollar empire, and him “gifting” me with one of the “best concierges in the county” won’t change that. He’s wasting his money. You’re wasting your time.

However, seeing as how you foolishly signed an ironclad contract with an Act of God clause and my father has strong-armed me into taking this position, it appears as though we’re stuck together—at least until your contract is up next month.

That said, our time together at WellesTech should be relatively painless but please don’t fool yourself into thinking I don’t notice when that pretty little stare lingers a little too long or the way your breath catches when our hands graze. You’re fascinated by me and it kills you because you can hardly stand to be in the same room as me.

Think I’m a problem worth solving? An impossible riddle worth figuring out? By all means, go ahead and try. Solve for X. Crack the code. It might even be fun (but only for me, not you).

V/r,

Calder Welles, II

P.S. I dare you.

What.
The fuck.
Was that?
She’s the woman my father hired? The girl who spilled her coffee down her shirt after bumping into me in the hall?
That’s fucking golden. I can’t even be mad right now.
It makes perfect sense.
He brought on an assistant who happens to have all of the qualities he thinks I lack. She’s civil, tactful, punctual, classy as fuck.
I bet he thinks she’s going to be a good influence on me, like she can fucking domesticate me and turn me into a Corporate American civil servant.
Poor thing. She doesn’t realize she stepped inside the lion’s ring with nothing but a flimsy whip and a barstool. I’m not that easily tamed.
Regardless, I don’t know her name, but already I’m impressed. She’s not afraid to stand up for herself. I like that. If she’d given me a chance to explain, I’d have told her that’s what I meant when I said she was exactly my type.
I’m not a moron. I know she didn’t think I was flirting with her. I know she didn’t come back over because she wanted me. Quite the opposite. I saw the contention in that caramel-brown gaze of hers.
I also sensed a very raw, very real mutual attraction brewing—and that’s why I called it like it was and referred to her as a snack.
It was for the best.
I didn’t come here tonight to get laid. I’ve got bigger, more important things on my mind.
I watch the pretty little brunette with the black sweater grab her bag from her booth and storm out of the bar, her blonde friend in tow, and I toss back the rest of my Hennessy in one swallow.
Slapping some cash on the table, I take off and head back home, this time opting to walk.
Fresh air.
Deep thoughts.
A strong drink coursing through my veins.
If I’m lucky, these things plus a good night’s sleep will work together, helping me come to terms with what I’ve got to do in the morning.
Making my way through a crosswalk, I pass one of those sickeningly sweet couples walking hand-in-hand with that new-in-love look in their shiny eyes.
That kind of thing has never appealed to me, and if I’m being honest, a long-term relationship baked in exclusivity seems like a prison sentence. Who the hell wants someone they have to report to? Someone who has to know where they are at all times? Someone who expects them to be there when they call? Someone who has access to every aspect of their life?
It’s Bridgeforth Academy all over again, only the relationship version.
Pass.

Book Blitz: Eight Steps To Alpha, by Taylor Sullivan

Eight Steps to Alpha
Taylor Sullivan
Publication date: October 27th 2018
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance

Elliot Prescott has one question for his ultra-nerdy roommate and best friend, Fe Porto.

Why can’t he get the girl?

And she has an answer for him. Or maybe eight.

With five years of best-friend hood under their belt, they’re about to embark in the project of a lifetime.

To make Elliot alpha.

The only catch? They have just four weeks to turn the video game loving Elliot, into a cocky, sexy, tattoo clad beast Fe has read about in her romance novels.

Can they do it? Or will the flitter of love that’s been brewing under the surface finally get the kindling it’s been longing for?

Goodreads / Amazon

EXCERPT:

It only took a few minutes before Fe was back and for Elliot to realize she had absolutely no clue how much he bench-pressed. She brought him the wrong size. In fact, she brought him shirts so small, he was pretty sure it would fit a juvenile boy. Elliot was a man, a six-foot-two, two-hundred-pound man, and there was no way these suckers were going to fit him. “Wrong size,” he said, throwing the shirts back over the door. “I need an extra-large.” He flexed his chest in front of the mirror to prove his point. Did she not see this? Did she not notice these weapons of mass destruction?

The shirt came flying back over the stall, the hanger barely missing his head by a fraction. “You wear a medium. Put it on.”

He opened the stall door, not caring he wore no shirt, and flashed her a free sample of the gun show. “Fe, come on? Are you serious?”

She smirked a little, her dimple taunting him. “Your clothes are too big, Elli. That’s part of the problem.”

He raised a brow. “This,” he argued, grabbing the shirt from its hanger, “won’t fit over my right bicep.”

She laughed, in a way too amused sort of way, then came forward, took hold of the door handle, and closed it. “Put. It. On.”

So, he did. And it wasn’t easy. It was sort of like squeezing a python into a hamster hole. But he put it on to appease her, opened the door, and found Fe, immediately covering her mouth to suppress laughter. She eyed him up and down, did the little twirl thing with her finger again, and he turned happily, because she was smiling again—and he’d do anything to make her smile.

The shirt was white, almost see through because the fabric was pulled so taught, and the sleeves were wrapped around his arms like the casing of a sausage. When he made it full circle, he found her eyes locked on the band of skin right above his waistline. The shirt was a good four inches too short, leaving his belly button, and happy trail completely exposed. He didn’t even know if she was aware what she was looking at, because she seemed as though she was in a trance. But there was no mistaking it—she was staring right there, her hazel-green eyes, like a wheat field hanging on to the barest amount of spring, stuck just a fraction of an inch above his zipper.

His mighty soldier inched toward a salute, and he turned toward the mirror. “I told you it wouldn’t fit,” he said gruffly, then closed his eyes and forcibly cleared his throat.

God damn it! Why did this happening to him? At the worst possible time? He began saying Hail Mary’s in his head and tried to calm himself down.

It wasn’t working.

“I’ll go get you a large,” Fe whispered, closing the door quietly behind her.

Good. He thought. Good.

Author Bio:

Taylor is mom of three young (or not so young) children she loves more than life. She runs them around endlessly, hoping she looks presentable enough to be out in public, and day dreams about fictional characters. Maybe she’s crazy, or maybe she craves the barbie games she played as a little girl a little too much, but that’s where her stories are born. It’s where they blossom, and grow, and eventually breath life on the page of her stories.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: Going Down On One Knee, by Christina Hovland

Today we have the blog tour for GOING DOWN ON ONE KNEE by Christina Hovland! Check it out and get your copy today!

Title: GOING DOWN ON ONE KNEE

Author: Christina Hovland

Genre: Contemporary Romance

About Going Down On One Knee:

“An utterly charming opposites-attract-story. Hovland perfectly balances simmering sexual tension with a surprising amount of emotion, and the stomach-flip-causing ending is the perfect example of why I read and love romance.” – New York Times Bestselling Author, Lauren Layne

Number-crunching Velma Johnson’s perfectly planned life is right on course.

That’s a lie. Sure, she’s got the lucrative job. She’s got the posh apartment. But her sister nabbed Velma’s Mr. Right. There has to be a man out there for Velma. Hopefully, one who’s hunky, wears pressed suits, and has a diversified financial portfolio. He’ll be exactly like, well… her sister’s new fiancé.

Badass biker Brek Montgomery blazes a trail across the country, managing Dimefront, one of the biggest rock bands of his generation. With the band on hiatus, Brek rolls into Denver to pay a quick visit to his family and friends. But when Brek’s sister suddenly gets put on bed rest, she convinces Brek to take over her wedding planning business for the duration of her pregnancy.

Staying in Denver and dealing with bridezillas was not what Brek had in mind when he passed through town, but there is one particular maid-of-honor who might make his stay worthwhile.

Velma finds herself strangely attracted to the man planning her sister’s wedding.

Problem is, he ticks none of the boxes on her well-crafted list. Brek is rough around the edges, he cusses, and doesn’t even have a 401(k). But trying something crazy might get her out of the rut of her dating life–so long as she lays down boundaries up front and sticks to her plan…

Get Your Copy Today!

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

This was a really cute opposites attract/roommates romance. Velma is such an uptight character, and Breck is completely laid-back. When his wedding planner sister goes on bed rest, Breck — who works as a music manager — reluctantly agrees to stick around town and take over her business. One of the brides is Velma’s sister… who is marrying the guy Velma’s long had a thing for… who happens to be one of Breck’s best friends. Not only does Velma agree to help Breck plan Claire and Dean’s wedding, but reluctantly agrees to let Breck crash in her guest room.
It’s not long before Breck and Velma enter into a friends with benefits arrangement. She can’t get over how attracted she is to him — since he doesn’t check any of her boxes! — and he’s determined to get her to loosen up. As the story goes, lines get crossed, feelings get involve, and things get messy. Especially when Breck sees his “rating” on Velma’s dating spreadsheet at the most inopportune moment!

What I really loved about this book is that Breck was the injured party and it was Velma who chased after him. It took me a while to connect to the characters, and I think it’s because third person POV isn’t my thing. But the story was enjoyable and the characters were likable, and it ended with such a cute HEA.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: The Other Blue Sky, by Shari J. Ryan

Release Date: October 24, 2018

Cover Design: MadHat Books

Synopsis

Very few people can say they were born inside a concentration camp during the Holocaust. Disease, starvation, and much worse, prevented most prisoners from surviving. For infants, it was nearly impossible.

I became an anomaly. I shouldn’t be alive.

As a child, I didn’t know my life was different from that of others. I had nothing to compare it to, and I had no insight about the day I was born … until the moment I overheard the truth.

In a split second, I became a stranger to my reflection, my name, and my reason for being. I was not Annie anymore, and the people raising me were not my parents. Even the blue sky I cherished became an unfamiliar sight.

I felt utterly alone in a foreign world, but that changed when I met another person who was lost, like me. Fisher offered his hand to hold and began to prove his theory of, “When two missing people find one another, they can consider themselves found.”

Fisher enlightened me, and through him, I gained a deeper understanding of life. Now, I know there are two sides of the beautiful, blue sky. I’m on one side, and my lost loved ones are on the other, but at the end of it all, we’ll be together again under the one and only sky.

Goodreads

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

Shari J. Ryan is a romcom queen. Some of her Man Cave books are the funniest I’ve read. But on the other side of the coin are these brilliant, intense, haunting tales of WW2 concentration camp survivors in Last Words and The Other Blue Sky. Amelia’s story in Last Words is one that I still think about often, a year after I read the book. So I could not wait to read daughter Annie’s story in The Other Blue Sky. While the books are both standalones, I strongly recommend reading Last Words first, as it sets the stage for the struggles Annie has been experiencing in silence her entire life.

As “lucky” as Annie was to have escaped, after she began to piece together what had happened to her, she went through her entire life not feeling like she fit in anywhere. As a mother, I understand why Amelia made the choice that she did. And it eased my heart to know that Annie and Fisher, another lost child of the Holocaust, found each other and created a life together.

This book is full of so many intense moments as Annie struggles to find lost pieces of her past and reconcile that with what she knows of her present. I made the mistake of reading a good chunk of this book while at my desk during my lunchbreak, and it was hard to hold back the tears welling in my eyes.

This story, like Last Words before it, shows how a glimmer of hope and peace came out of one of history’s most horrific events. How Annie and Fisher found their blue sky. Knowing that the tale was inspired by the author’s own ancestors gave this story more depth in my eyes than just a work of fiction. And the cover of this story is perfect. At first, I just thought it was a pretty cover. But having finished the book, it gives me chills to know what the pages hold underneath that buttterfly and blue sky. Brava, Shari. Brava.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: Fall, by Kristen Callihan

The first time I met Jax Blackwood things went a little sideways.

In my defense, I didn’t know he was Jax Blackwood—who expects a legendary rock star to be shopping for groceries? More importantly, a blizzard was coming and he was about to grab the last carton of mint-chocolate chip.

Still, I might have walked away, but then he smugly dared me to try and take the coveted ice cream. So I kissed him. And distracted that mint-chip right out of his hands.

Okay, it was a dirty move, but desperate times and all that. Besides, I never expected he’d be my new neighbor.

An annoying neighbor who takes great pleasure in reminding me that I owe him ice cream but would happily accept more kisses as payment. An irresistible neighbor who keeps me up while playing guitar naked–spectacularly naked–in his living room.

Clearly, avoidance is key. Except nothing about Jax is easy to ignore—not the way he makes me laugh, or that his particular brand of darkness matches mine, or how one look from him melts me faster than butter under a hot sun.

Neither of us believes in love or forever. Yet we’re quickly becoming each other’s addiction. But we could be more. We could be everything.

All we have to do is trust enough to fall.

Tender romantic young lovers

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars

At first, I thought that Fall was going to be a light and funny romcom about a rockstar and a Plain Jane. I enjoy that trope — who hasn’t fantasized about being with the hottest celebrity? But the story that I got between John and Stella was so much more. It was raw, intense, full of insane highs and lows.

These two lonely souls — two people who find it hard to trust and don’t believe in love — find solace and peace together and soon become everything to one another. But John has some major demons when it comes to dealing with his depression and anxiety, and that just may be what is their ultimate undoing. Will he trust Stella to catch him when he falls?

I adored these characters. Their meet-cute had me smiling and laughing — but there were some parts in the middle of Fall where I just wept for these characters. It is #3 in the VIP series, and is a standalone. However, I got the feeling that John/Jax’s mental health issues are carrying over from the previous books, since this is set two years after his suicide attempt. Kristen Callihan did a fantastic job of showing how his anxiety and depression is part of his everyday struggles, and I really loved how the reader got to see the changes in him as he and Stella grew closer. And Stella — the juxtaposition between what she’s paid to do versus her actual life was fantastic. I got why she was so hesitant to let John in, and why she was so hesitant to give him a second chance.

These were wonderful characters in a wonderful story. Fall is a book that I’ll be returning to for a re-read in the future! I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

EXCERPT

The air between us shifts. I’m filled with a strange giddiness, wanting to laugh for the fun of it, but I’m also too warm, my limbs oddly heavy as if simple movements might be too much for me.

His tone turns soft and cajoling, teasing the truth out of me. “Are you going to tell me what you do?” When I say nothing, the corners of his eyes crinkle. “I see. You’re going to torture me a bit.”

The warm, fuzzy feeling grows as I shrug. “Torture feels apropos in this scenario.”

He hums again, taking another step toward me. “What makes you think I won’t like being tortured by you?”

The heat of his body and the scent of his skin makes my head light and my pulse pound. How did it get to this point where the highlight of my day is flirting with Jax Blackwood? Despite the thrill, I know I’m in over my head. I haven’t gone out on a date in months because I form attachments, I get emotional, and then I hurt when they inevitably leave. And this man will leave. He is as bright and fleeting as a camera flash. I’ll be left with the image of him seared into my memory and nothing more.

I tell myself all of this, the voice in my head as stern as possible. But it doesn’t make me back away. It doesn’t stop my body from somehow straining toward his without even moving. Because it might be stupid of me, but I want to feel something that isn’t planned. Something, for however briefly, that’s real.

He’s too attuned to me not to notice. John’s lids lower as his attention slides down my body before easing back up to my face. Slowly, he rests his forearm on the wall beside my head. “Tell me, Stella,” he murmurs.

“No,” I whisper back, flirting, even though I shouldn’t.

His biceps bunch as he leans in, a smile dancing on his lips. “Tell.”

My breasts graze his chest, and I feel it in my toes.

“You’re crowding me.” I hate how breathy I sound.

“Can’t help it.” His voice is a rumble, the heat of his breath playing over my skin. He ducks his head, drawing close until our lips nearly brush, and when he speaks again, his tone is almost conversational, except for the husky quality that touches deep within my core. “You smell like strawberries. Fucking delicious.”

My lids flutter, and I swallow hard. “Ordinarily, I’d call you out on that cliché but since I’ve been eating strawberries, you aren’t exactly wrong.”

His chuckle is slow and easy, as he eases back and his gaze slowly travels over my face. “Were they sweet, Stella Button?”

He’s looking at my mouth like he might try to find out. My lips tremble in response, and John tracks the movement, his breathing getting deeper, faster. “You have two freckles on your lips. One on the top lip and one on the bottom corner.”

Those damn freckles. They were the bane of my adolescence. I hid them with lipstick and silently cursed whenever someone mentioned them.

Freckles don’t have any feelings, but I swear it’s as if he’s touching them.

“You’re just noticing this?” I try to make it sound like a joke, but it comes out weak and thready.

His own lips quirk. “Oh, I noticed. It’s distracting as hell. They’re like two little dots of butter toffee. Makes me want to lick them, get a taste.”

Oh, God. Lick them, please. I can almost feel it. I want to feel it.

No. Bad Stella. Behave.

John’s lips part a fraction like he just might take that taste.

“Back off,” I whisper. And yet somehow my traitorous hands find their way to his sides, running over the waistband of his jeans, holding him there.

John makes a sound deep in his throat and tilts his hips, pressing them against mine. A distinctly thick bulge nudges my belly. Both of us lose a breath, and then he’s closer, his cheek touching my temple. “You’ll have to let me go first.”

My thumbs slide under the edge of his shirt and find smooth, taut skin. A tremor goes through his body. I try to think, search for what the hell we’ve been talking about.

His lips brush the crest of my cheek as he murmurs against my skin. “Tell me what you do, Stella. You know you want to.”

My smile feels illicit. Somehow the action is directly tied to all my happy parts, making them draw hot and tight. “I don’t think I do.”

Another hum. “Liar. You’re dying to.”
