Sunny Shelly’s Review: Fumbled Arrangement by S. Jones

Blurb:

What started out as a night of fun at a Vegas hotspot somehow turned into saying “I Do” by an Elvis impersonator.

If you think that’s bad, it gets worse. My new husband lied to me and told me he ran a not-for-profit. That couldn’t be further from the truth.

Imagine my surprise when I realized I married one of the best tight ends in the league.

Did I mention my uncle owns the team?

If you think things couldn’t get any more complicated, our plans to get an annulment are unexpectedly put on hold. So, now I’m trapped in this unforeseen marriage until we can find a way out. He assured me not to worry, proposing a temporary solution—move in with him and keep our relationship a secret.

Except, the more I get to know my husband, the more I want to stay married, especially when he calls me—”his wife”.

But life doesn’t always go as planned, especially when my uncle intercepts our news before we have a chance to tell him.

Now his spot on the team is at risk, my heart is on the line, and the fallout could cost us everything.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

Fumbled Arrangement is the first book I’ve read by S. Jones, and I really enjoyed reading Rhett and Natalie’s story! I thought the title of this book was perfectly fitting for this couple, who got married while drunk in Vegas, develop real feelings for each other, and then it all gets botched up.

What I really liked about Natalie and Rhett is their insecurities; I thought that made them both very relatable characters. She has baggage from her previous relationship: her ex, a pro hockey player, cheated on her, leading her to feel like she won’t be enough to hold Rhett’s interest long-term. Rhett has always been a playboy and never wanted to settle down until he met Natalie. His worries about not being good enough for her are compounded by his family dynamics. He’s always been the black sheep and feels that his parents don’t approve of his career choice in playing professional football.

Despite their drunk wedding night, Rhett and Natalie decide to see if there is anything real between them. Over the next few weeks, they really get to know one another. There was an intense attraction between them from the get-go, and I really loved how these two characters built on that. Despite having never been in a committed relationship before, Rhett was all in when it came to being with Natalie. It took her longer to catch up, and I loved how dedicated he was to proving to her that he was in it for the long haul.

There’s a forbidden aspect to this story as well, since Natalie’s uncle owns Rhett’s team and made it clear that his players were off-limits to her. When that particular drama hits the fan, it leads to a third-act breakup. But there is some good groveling that comes afterward!

Overall, I really enjoyed this story and I want to go back and read the rest of the Atlanta Arrows series!

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.
