I’m Amethyst Lily Tatum, and up until this point, I’d managed to maintain a fairly low-key life. I’m what you would call a socially unacceptable hot mess. Instead of partying, I’m skating, flipping ollie’s over guys who loved to underestimate me. Then I started college, met a wild girl who I would soon call my best-friend, had my first drunk one-night stand, left my phone at his house, and then, when I finally managed to meet my mom’s new boyfriend, I found out that my one-night stand, was now my new stepbrother.

Flip Trick started out really strong, but somewhere in the middle of the story, things just got so murky and I got so annoyed by the constant merry-go-round that Amethyst and Maddox were riding over and over again, that I lost interest.
The story spans a good chunk of years, so we do get to see how Ame and Maddox’s relationship develops. But as a heroine, I didn’t like Ame. She was so wishy-washy. Maddox was a bit of a jerk at times, but I liked him far better than I liked her.
There is a huge cast of secondary characters in Flip Trick, and at times I felt like some of them unnecessarily overshadowed the main couple. There were some other plot lines that I thought could have not been a part of this story, and made it take a darker turn. It takes a healluva long journey for Ame and Maddox to get to their HEA, but unfortunately for me, by the time they got there, I’d stopped rooting for them. I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.
