Blurb
I had it all—the dream job, a wonderful boyfriend, a fabulous life.
Or that’s what I thought.
Then my life took an unexpected turn and I found myself working as a
nanny for the hot-tempered Dr. West.
He and his regimented spreadsheets and rude attitude were more than
anyone should have to take.
If that jerkface thought he could order me around, he’d better think
again.
Then one day I discovered his secrets, which explained why he acted the
way he did.
I never expected my heart to soften towards him so much.
I never expected to have such sexy dreams about him.
Nor did I expect to want him the way I did.
But he was my boss, older than me, and off-limits.
And if I wasn’t careful, everything, including my heart, would go up in
flames.
This is a stand
alone
contemporary romance novel from the author of For The
Love of English.

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

I read the first chapter of From Ashes To Flames when AM Hargrove posted it in her reader’s group a few months ago, and I was hooked. I’ve been eagerly anticipating this story, and while it didn’t take the direction I thought it would in my own mind (I so thought Grey was going to get together with the other guy’s wife!), I immensely enjoyed this single dad/nanny romance.

The same day that Gray found out that his wife was having an ongoing affair with a colleague and that his infant son may not actually be his, she and her lover die in a plane crash. He’s left haunted by unanswered questions, extreme anger and a whole lot of regret, unable to move on and move forward. Grey is so engrossed in his self-induced pity party that he begins to pull away from his children, who were once the lights of his life. That’s when his mother steps in and hires her best friend’s daughter to be Grey’s nanny.

Marin had it all — until her world came crashing down around her. She initially doesn’t want to be working as Grey’s nanny any more than he wants her to be there. She doesn’t take his shi*, she’s outspoken, full of sass and has rainbow hair. Not at all the person uptight, stuffy, pissed-at-the-world Greydon wants living in his house.

This story is the slowest of slow burns. Marin immediately clicks with little Kinsley, but Grey is a much tougher nut to crack. Despite a 16 year age difference, she slowly chips away at the rough exterior, only for the fragile foundation they’ve been building to be overturned. I have to say, I thought Grey was an egotistical ass at times, but I’m glad he came around and fought for Marin. She makes him feel alive, makes him feel like life is worth living. Before Marin, Grey was a pile of ashes and she brought fire and spark back to his life.

I’m hoping that this is a start to a new series with the West brothers, because I’d love to see Pearson and Hudson get their own stories. I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review for Sunny Shelly Reads book blog.
