Two years ago, his kiss left her reeling, but she pushed him away and they never spoke of it again.

Lena Andrews is bad at love, and has no intention of getting better at it.

Men are good for one thing, and love isnโ€™t it.

Sheโ€™s perfectly okay with finding happiness in her job as a comic book artist.

Yet, she canโ€™t shake the memory of her coworkerโ€™s kiss.

Amos St. Clair has stayed the hell away from Lena Andrews for the last two years.

Work has filled his time and heโ€™s on the cusp of making a name for himself. When an opportunity to complete a project thatโ€™s dear to Lenaโ€™s heart presents itself, Amos seizes the opportunity โ€“ even if it means being with the woman he’s avoided all this time.

Through their mutual passion for art and each other, their love blooms like a lotus flower out of a dark, muddy pool. But, is their love strong enough to withstand the challenges posed by the most important job of their careers?

Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars

I wasn’t sure what to expect from this book, as I hadn’t read any of Hilaria Alexander’s other works. But I was more than pleasantly surprised by The Art Of Us.

Lena is a tortured soul, who doesn’t think she deserves happiness because of a freak incident in the past that still carries a load of guilt about. When it comes to men, she doesn’t date, but rather dips in one-night stands. Two years ago, she shared a sizzling kiss with her co-worker at a party and hasn’t been able to stop thinking about it since. But the frenzy of feelings Lena had for Amos in the moments after that kiss scared her so much that she pushed him away — until they were forced to work together.

I enjoyed the slow build of Lena and Amos’ relationship over the course of more than a year. I felt like I got to know them as they got to know one another, outside of the confines of their workspace. The setting of this book was different than anything else I’ve read before. I wasn’t sure how I’d like the fact that it takes place in Japan, but it added a special element to the backdrop of this story. I didn’t know much at all about the Japanese culture, but HA weaves it so beautifully into Amos and Lena’s story that Japan becomes a character itself.

The Art Of Us was a beautiful slow burn. I felt like I was immersed into Amos and Lena’s world, and was so thrilled when Lena finally found her home with the sweet artist. I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.

Hilaria Alexander never thought sheโ€™d be a writer one day. Reader? Yes. Book hoarder? You betcha. Then, she started reading romance – thatโ€™s when she felt the need to write a story. Unfortunately, she didnโ€™t listen to her gut, and talked herself out of it A MILLION TIMES. She finally gave up a few years ago, when the urge to write was stronger than self-doubt. She loves funny, sexy romances wrapped with a huge happily-ever-after bow at the end. Her inbox is always open if you want to chat about one of her books.
