Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars
Unexpected Arrivals was an amazing non-traditional love triangle book. The myriad of connections that Stephie Walls created amongst these characters was spectacular.
The way Walls described James and Cora’s relationship from the moment they met through all of their ups and downs, their split and their reconciliation really made me root for them as a couple. And yet, I still appreciated James’ friendship with Chelsea during the years that he and Cora were apart.
I wasn’t sure how I was going to like the three POVs, but it worked so much better than I ever could have anticipated. I wasn’t sure how Cora was going to react when James learned that he’d fathered a child, but the way these two handled Legend’s sudden appearance in their life was true teamwork. And how that little boy allowed Cora to heal her own fractured past relationships left me in tears.
And I loved, loved, loved the wink to Jade and Aria from another recently-released book, The Roommate ‘dis’Agreement by Walls’ sometime-writing partner, Leddy Harper. I hope that means that we’ll see a romance between Legend and Aria some day!
I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.
