Sunny Shelly’s Review: 5 Stars
Claire Kingsley is one of my favorite indie authors. I love her romantic comedies, and could not wait to see how she handled a slightly darker romance with His Heart. WOW, did she not disappoint. His Heart is not a “dark” romance, but because of the organ transplant angle, it has a darker overall theme compared to her romcoms. But the CK romance that I know and love is still there, and she had me laughing and crying and laughing and crying over and over again.
I love how the alternating POVs in His Heart start with Brooke and Sebastian as teenagers, years before they ever cross paths. When the book starts, Seb is at the top of his teenage world, and Brooke is a the bottom of the high school social ladder. When she meets Liam, her teenage prince charming, Brooke’s life begins to turn around… at the same time that Sebastian’s life begins to crumble thanks to his illness. When Brooke has everything in her grasp, it’s tragically taken away from her — at the very same moment that Seb has just about given up and is given a second chance.
Brooke’s worst tragedy is literally the miracle that saves Sebastian’s life.
Four years later, Brooke and Seb finally meet — and it is by far one of the most heart-warming Meet Cutes I’ve ever read in a book. How he just KNOWS who she is without having any idea who she is was absolutely perfect. I had no doubt that Liam led Sebastian to Brooke, because now, she is in desperate need of being saved.

The friendship between them builds slowly, but the development of their romance is well-paced. There are so many little moments between Seb and Brooke that made me tear up, and just as many that made me smile. Charlie and Olivia are the best best friends a book couple could ask for, and complemented the H/h so well.
Grab a box of tissues and dig in. His Heart is worth the emotional rollercoaster ride. UGH, that last line gets me every time! I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.
