Enter Jake Brady, your friendly neighborhood food truck owner whose dimples and delicacies won’t seem to leave well enough alone. With more popularity than the president, his wine-infused sweet treats have our nation’s capital hooked. He’s spontaneous, smug and all-American gorgeous; a dangerous combination considering he has no interest in taking on the responsibilities that rule my life.
But when we can’t seem to sample enough of each other’s … desserts, things start to get complicated. Jake is biting off more than he can chew, and when I watch him with my daughter, I can’t seem to freeze my melting heart.
Maybe it’s his waffle cone. Maybe it’s his … banana split. Either way, I think I’m in trouble with a cherry on top.
Sunny Shelly’s Review: 4 Stars
Melt is an absolutely adorable, honest, heartwarming story. I fell in love with Jake and Samantha as they fell in love with one another. And sweet little Lennon was such a charmer! What I really liked was how raw and honest Jake and Samantha’s start-and-stop was when it came to her duties as a single mom and whether or not he was ready for giving up bachelorhood for that kind of responsibility. But he proved that he was in it for the long haul, the ups and downs, and Jake was there for Samantha when her life starts to go to crap, even as she tried to push him away.
The characters are relatable, the interactions between them and Lennon could have been from any single mom’s real life, and the struggles Jake faces when it comes to his family are so, so common. I absolutely adored this book!
I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.
